I have lost 40 since December. Haven’t lost another pound for a while but I can tell my body has changed some. I’m only down one pant size though. Annoying!

I really only have a lot of extra weight in my belly and my arms. Gross.

I’m planning on shopping for dress in September and that gives me about 5 months between then and wedding.

I think this is a great idea and wish I had done it.  Not only would I have felt better about myself shopping, but everything would had zipped and I would have ordered a more accurate size (less alterations=less money).

I did the same thing… I put my goal based on when i needed to buy my dress.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get ALL the weight I wanted off by the time I needed to buy my dress.  So now I Just need to get all the weight off by my 1st fitting.

I really want to! I am horrible at motivating myself to lose weight though. I have chubby arms and a chubby belly too like another PP said and I feel like that really shows the most in a dress! I’m sure I could get an empire waist gown and hide my belly, but as far as my arms go, they need to lose some inches and tone up a bit before I even try on a dress! Those mirrors don’t lie and I will be damned if I subject myself to that, knowing how gross I would feel…ugh..

I wanted to lose about 15 pounds before I started dress shopping, and finally started shopping at about the 9 month mark, but had only lost about 7 pounds by that point.  I was in between dress sizes when I ordered my dress, and my consultant was pretty confident that I’d be able to hit  my final 8 pounds by the time the dress came.  I’ve now lost 11 pounds, with the last 4 to go.  So, it’s been a process.  I’m also looking to lose the final 4 pounds before my first fitting.

That being said, since you’re looking for 30 pounds, maybe you can set yourself little goals.  To lose 10-15 pounds before you start dress shopping, and then work on the other pounds for your first fitting?

Good luck with the weight loss. There is nothing like wedding dress shopping to get us all on diets and exercising! πŸ™‚

@SFreeman2187:Can I borrow it?! I need to lose 30lbs before my Oct 2 wedding and hope my fittings can go along with weight loss, but if I have your mirror I’ll just sit back and eat as much chocolate as I want. πŸ˜‰

I tried…managed to drop 10lb before going in, but I didn’t want to lose too much too fast, just to gain it all back. So now I’m trying to drop 15 more and deal with the alterations.

You have plenty of time to do it slowly but surely! One-two pounds per week and you’ll be at your goal in no time.

I tried but ended up not reaching my goal weight until after the dress was purchased.

I kind of am… I am hoping to lose 40 lbs before I order my dress but Ive been dress shopping twice just to get a general idea of what styles fit and look good on my body. I figured if I waited until I lost all the weight and then went shopping I was fearful that I would find out that the particular style of dress I was looking for wouldnt fit my body type so if it looks good on me now over weight it should look better once the weight is gone… silly theory I know
