I’m wearing 4 inch heels so I can’t comment on 5″ (where do you find those?!) but my Badgley Mischka pumps are amazing…and comfy!  I am a seasoned heel wearer though, if that matters.

I own 6-8 pairs of heels that high. Honestly, if you don’t wear 5″ regularly, I wouldn’t recommend it. I generally do not wear my 5″ shoes if I am going to be standing for a long time or will be walking a lot.  That said, if you do decide to go with them, definitely get some with platforms-that does help. The most comfortable I’ve found are Miu Miu,Prada and YSL. I love Louboutins, but I don’t find his super high heels comfy-they pitch forward too much for me. Manolo’s don’t have platforms so i would avoid them that high. I like some Jimmy Choos.

Absolutely wear them around the house and practice walking in them.

For my own wedding I’ve chosen a pair of 4″ Jimmy Choos. They are extremely comfortable. I tried higher, but I don’t want to be uncomfortable dancing or at the end of the night. I know many people on here do it, but the thought of changing into flip flops at a wedding horrifies me!

LOL @ cakegal, “the thought of changing into flip flops at a wedding horrifies me” I’m in your boat! I’m also a shorty and want some sky high heels. A good trick is wearing them with socks while doing chores around the house and getting some soles.

I think you could go for a platform heel to take some pressure off your feet! I wear heels all the time and they really make a difference. Maybe try a pair like these: http://www.dsw.com/shoe/martinez+valero+rita+pump?prodId=208542

The platform hidden inside the front of the shoe makes the angle less intense while still providing height! I hope that helps. Try to walk around in them a lot ahead of time in the house to get used to them and wear them in, but early enough before the wedding that if you get blisters they wont reappear on the big day!

Also check out Pour La Victoire – my wedding shoes are by them and have a 4.75 heel with a platform. They also have a fantastic bridal collection of shoes and they won’t break the bank ($200-ish). I too am also a seasoned heel wearer, so I would suggest practicing because heels that high can take some getting used to. If you end up breaking the bank, my personal preference in designer heels is YSL. Comfortable and high!

I’m wearing 5″ heels!

However, I did lots of pageants when I was younger and am used to wearing them.

I’m going to be wearing 4.5″ heels–I’m most comfortable (both emotionally And physically!) in high heels.  I’m actually going to get them from a website that a bee posted a few days ago, sorry I can’t remember who!  The shoes are customizable and hand-made, and they accept returns, and they’re in the $200 price range–pretty reasonable if you ask me, considering what you’re getting!

Also, I WILL be sticking comfort gel inserts into my shoes.  I have put inserts into literally every pair of my shoes now, even sandals (I found kinds specially made to blend in so no one could tell).  They make a world of difference when you’re going to be wearing even the most comfortable shoe all day.  http://www.shoesofprey.com/  I’m so excited because they’re going to start offering vegan ‘leather’ options in the fall!

I have some hidden platforms – they’re 5 1/4 inches high!

I love them because I don’t have to get my dress hemmed – but I’m really really used to wearing high high heels.

Definitely start wearing them regularly to get your feet used to them ahead of the wedding. I mean for a full day – shopping at the mall – not just around your house. My calf muscles exist soley because of my shoes.

Also I just got these from Bakers and they are all kinds of awesome (but not dressy enough for a wedding). They’d be good practice shoes for you if you want something you can wear out on weekends.
