I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about when our best time to TTC would be, and I just feel like 24 (and Darling Husband 26) would be ideal. A lot of people seem to think that 24 is too young but.. I feel like it might be right for us! These are my reasons so far..
If I work until then (currently 22) I can make enough money to take a decent chunk out of student loans, leaving only around 5-7k left to pay off, as well as being able to buy a new car (hyundai elantra.. Affordable and has really great safety ratings! Plus being 4 doors.. necessary for carseats.)
We just found out yesterday that in a few years (timeframe being right around when I turn 25ish) our medical insurance will be changing, and until then, our insurance is AMAZING.. as in, my pregnancy, full OBGYN care, birth, and first month of baby well-care would be 100% free (umm… this is very appealing to me haha)
Darling Husband has a job which, while the initial income is fairly low, by your 4th year, you make really good money, and even better money by 5th year. ( after your 3rd year, each year has approx 20k annual raise) so.. when we are 24 and 26, Darling Husband will be at the tail end of his 3rd year, and then if we get pregnant fairly quickly, will have at least 6mos in the higher income (around 80) and then by the time baby is 6mos, he will be making 6 figures and still getting subsequent raises after that. So while it may be tight financially at first (though we value saving, and don’t live a super luxurious lifestyle) it will quickly become relaxed financially.
Also, I just found out I have a tilted cervix, and am concerned that we need to TTC while I am still at my peak of fertility, since we want 3 or 4, so we would need to get started young.
I am just curious as to your reasonings for having a baby at 24, as well as anything you wish you had done differently, or reasons that you think it ws the perfect thing to do? Thanks ladies 🙂
