@CarolinaPeach13:

It could be stress.  I’ve skipped a month or two because of it.

I went off the pill sometime at the end of last year, can’t remember when exactly.  I was regular up until the fact that I am now over 60 days late.

This happened to be once before – I got off BC and was late 4 months.

Go to a Dr., but you should be fine.  I have my appt for Thur.  Don’t think I’m preggers, bc I took a preg test and it was negative, but I’ll let you know if he says something weird.  It’s usually from your body adjusting to being off the pill.  But, your body will develop ovarian cysts normally and if you don’t get your period, your body won’t rid itself of the cyst, so it’s a good idea to see a Dr.

Mine were like clockwork pre-BC and I never skipped one.

However skipping one is pretty normal, and can just be a blip, or, often, stress-related. In your case, I would say it could be down to coming off hormonal BC, as this can make periods go a bit hay-wire for a few months.

If you have taken a pregnancy test and it’s negative, I would try to just put it out of your mind. If you miss 3 or more in a row, you should see a doctor.

If this happens a lot when you aren’t on hormonal BC, you may want to consider having blood tests and scan to rule out polycystic ovaries/PCOS, as these conditions are a major cause of absent periods. That isn’t to worry you, as if the missed periods coincide with coming off hormonal BC, then it could well be that; but it may be worth checking out, if only to put your mind at rest/rule out an underlying issue.

Before going on BC, I sometimes would skip. Back in high school, I once skipped for 3 months straight. I also developed an ovarian cyst during that 3 months. That was the longest – I sometimes skipped a month every now and then.

I have this problem when I’m not on birth control but it’s a bit different because for me they fluctuate constantly and are pretty much impossible to predict – if they were usually regular and then one month was different or skipped I’d be wondering what’s going on. But like PPs said, stress can do it, so your finals coming up could be the reasoning.

@CarolinaPeach13:  It could be stress like PP said, or it could be a sign of a medical condition like PCOS. I went off BC for 3 months and skipped 2 periods. I went in for a blood test at the Doctor’s office and they diagnosed me with PCOS. There are other medical conditions that cause skipped periods as well, but PCOS is (to my knowledge) the most common one.

@CarolinaPeach13:  Your body is readjusting. When I train for 1/2 marathons though I will skip 1-3 months.
