I’m starting to panic. For reasons of schedule and completely insecurity in terms of where our money is coming from, all I know at this point 9 months from my wedding date is the location (where the reservation is held), the officiant (a mutual friend), the caterer (who hasn’t formerly been hired, but is still holding the date) and who is making the dresses (my sister). I still don’t know how many people I can invite, no invitation designs have been made, no makeup, no photographer, no DJ, no videographer, no flowers (which I might skip anyway). Still no clue when I’ll know about money from my parents for sure and without that I’m fairly stuck.
Anyone else here plan a lot of stuff in very little time? I’d love some assurance.

I work with a woman that planned her son’s WHOLE wedding in 3 weeks!!! I’m not sure what the circumstances were, or why she was the one doing the planning (esp. in so little time), but I know she did it all in 3 weeks!
I’m sure you’ll have more time than that. It’s very doable. There are plenty of vendors to choose from. While you may not get your first choice for everything, you will still get them booked. Maybe you can start researching some now, that way when you do have a better idea of your budget, you’ll know what your options are. Everything will come together in the end!
Good luck! 🙂

I just got engaged over Christmas and we are hoping to be married 7/24/10! So, yeah, I feel ya! Not to mention I am working full time and a full time graduate student. Stress much?! It is scary, but I know we can do it, you just have to be organized, focused, and not too picky!

We’re doing it in 5 months! Starting in March. It’s gonna be AWESOME and I am SO excited to have it done… I couldn’t handle a 12 month engagement!

I met a girl who planned her wedding in 6 weeks.
I’m planning mine in 8 weeks with tons of help from Mr. HCTS. A 12mo engagement would drive me nuts. I’m all about keeping it simple and the stressed out time short.

I got engaged on Black Friday and we want to get married this July! So, yeah, we’re having a pretty short engagement (about 8 months).

I’ve got 7 months to go and not a single contract. Plant to sort out venue caterer and officient next week.

Wow, this makes me feel better… I’m still waiting for that magical question but we’ve set a tentative date of 10/10/10, too. I’m freaking out already about venues and vendors, so it’s nice to know there are other ladies in the same boat and line of thought as me– I, too, couldn’t handle a really long engagement.

Sue my best friend “met” her husband on eHarmony back in in the summer of 2007, they physically met for the first time that September and had a very nice wedding that November. She and her mother threw that thing together in a matter of weeks.
I’m happy to say they are still together and have an adorable 2 year old boy.
She had two regrets from the short planning time, no time to shop for a dress she really liked and to lose weight.
In my opinion, you have plenty of time.

We have 8 months, and with less than 3 to go. So far it’s coming along, and we’re definitely feeling the pressure now. My advice as early as it sounds to do some things, just do it to get it out of the way, don’t put it off.
