So I need some advice/direction to not get screwed over by Fedex. I trialed an expensive item ($1400) at the end of January, got it no problem, didn’t fit. Terms of trial were payment in full, and then full refund when she got the item back (via paypal). Boxed it up and shipped it back via Fedex Ground at the local Office Max on Tuesday (local Fedex location). Insured it for $1400 (full purchase price), and ended up paying $60 for it to be shipped and specified that it needed to be signed for, which is standard for items that valuable. I was given a tracking number on my reciept.
Original owner of the item messages me Sunday night and says the tracking number isn’t working. I checked and indeed it wasn’t. I call Fedex and they can’t find my shipment?? They end up finding it under a different tracking number, by looking up the addresses and say that it delivered on Friday. Which the original owner then responded that no one was home on Friday at all. Called Fedex back and they get back to me that the driver dropped it off and a P. Smith (original owners surname) signed for it. Not only was no one home/in the house to answer the door on Friday, but the lady’s husbands name is John! No P. Smith even lives at the address. So the Fedex lady goes back to the driver to talk to him, and then calls me back and says that it looks like our driver has messed up and has lost your package, and we are going to have you file a claim.
I filed said claim and everyone was very helpful, “they will be sending you a check, we are so sorry for the inconvenience”. I get a letter in the mail that Fedex has DENIED the claim! So I am going to be calling them back today, and am looking for advice on what to say to get this taken care of, anyone who has had this happened and had it resolved, and any ideas what happened to the saddle. I have heard about people needing to actually sue Fedex to get this taken care of, and am really hoping it doesn’t come to that. I buy insurance every time just in case something like this happens!!!
Also, 30 days have already passed, so if this doesn’t get taken care of in the next 14 days, anything I can do via Paypal will be not able to be filed.
