I’ve had comments that were almost judgy about the size of it. My ring isnt huge or anything but it’s not small 1.5 carat equivalent center stone. We got a moissy because I loved how sparkly they were and a fraction of the cost of a diamond but also incredibly durable! I love love love it! I don’t go out of my way to tell people it’s moissanite so they often assume it’s a diamond and I correct them if they use the word diamond. But for the most part, it’s not their business.
People before knowing it’s moissanite have said things like “whoa that was probably my entire college tuition,” “wow he must REALLY love you,” etc. To which I explain moissanite because I think it’s amazing and I love that we were able to save some money and I got more size and sparkle than ever expected before I knew about moissys. But sometimes I get and eyebrow raise and a judgy “OOOhhh”

I loooooove your ring! Art deco settings are my absolute favorite. S t u n n i n g.
No one has ever said anything mean to my face, but I get mostly blank stares and lackluster “oh…very nice” all of the time when people ask to see mine. I have a natural, unheated padparadscha sapphire which is a very special/rare gemstone…but I’m not gonna lie, the lackluster responses definitely made me self-conscious about it even though I LOVE my ring. I feel you, girl, it’s hard to shut out the negativity when you wear your heart on your sleeve :-/.

bumbledore : ohhhhhh I love your ring SO much. (And your screen name, haha…and the little paw photobomber)
…people can be so odd. I’d have to mutter “peasant” under my breath if someone didn’t fully grasp the beauty of my ring. 😂
Yours, the same. If they don’t get the rarity of it, the furniture of their minds was maybe purchased mass-produced at Ikea…let them enjoy it. Lol

bumbledore : Your ring is one of my favorites on the bee! It’s so beautiful. I love vintage rings. Yours feels like a beautiful mix between an edwardian style and art deco – just so pretty! I’d love to own a padparadscha sapphire one day.

Recently, I was telling one of my colleagues about my stone being a Moissanite and another colleague that overheard told me I don’t have to tell people that it’s not a diamond (meaning I should just pass it off as if it was a diamond). I was too confused as to why she even said that to even say anything back to her at that moment but looking back on it, I wish I had.
