Anyone wore/tried a full skirt OVER a trumpet/mermaid dress?

Yes, you can wear a ball gown skirt over your mermaid or trumpet! The skirt just needs to sit at your natural waist and it should be full enough that you can’t see the shape or the mermaid underneath (especially if your mermaid has a full textured bottom). Can’t say if it will make walking more difficult… as long as the skirt and your dress are hemmed properly and the mermaid gown isn’t too tight at your knees you should be fine! It will be a bit heavier but you’ll be walking slowly down the aisle anyway.

ok this is so funny. I just watched an episode of Say Yes and the girl picked a tulle overskirt!

I wore a ballgown style tulle skirt over my mermaid dress. It wasn’t hard for me to walk in at all! Granted, I only wore the skirt during my ceremony and took it off for the reception.

mtya :  I would go with the fuller skirt to cover your mermaid bottom… do you have a pic of your dress? Usually the sheer skirts look good with more simple dresses underneath. If your mermaid has a textured bottom it might be too distracting under the overskirt.

IMO a see-through overskirt would not look good with your dress. But it would be fun to put on a full skirt for the ceremony (i.e. turn the dress into a ballgown) and then take it off for the sexy mermaid for the reception!
