Following. I’d like some ideas too. We want to write our vows, but he’s the one good with words not me. I feel like I’ll let him down.

I wrote our views.  We said the same ones.  I just looked at different vows that were already done and took parts I liked and then we just worked together until we were happy!

We are doing traditional vows, but my friend marrying us is sneaking in two extra lines for each of us. I have to promise to watch Michigan State football and he has to promise to always laugh at my terrible jokes.

my fiancée does not know about these little adons,  but everything else will be traditional.

We pieced ours together from some that I found on A Practical wedding and some samples from our officiant. We both said the same thing.

And although we both said the same vows, an older guest came up to Darling Husband after the ceremony and raved on and on about how sweet and heart-felt his vows were. She said to me “oh, yours were good too, but his made me weep.”  It must have been his delivery. She refused to believe we said the same things.

We had two different vows: our marriage vows and our ring vows. I wrote the entire ceremony and we said the same thing for the marriage vows but wrote our own ring vows and surprised each other on the day of the ceremony. It was very special.

As for what to say, I looked up sample vows online (probably A Practical Wedding) and tweaked them to fit us and our relationship.

We will be writing our own vows however I’m going to assume our celebrant will give us some examples to be “inspired” by. If it gets too stressful we will just go with something along the lines of the traditional ones. I agree with a PP in that it’s the delivery that makes it special
