Omg we are doing the same thing! We have an appt scheduled with a top reversal doc on the 30th. I’ve done some blood work and am currently doing the ovulation tests to make sure I am able to have kids before we actually do his reversal.  I too want to know people’s experiences with this. It’s nerve wracking. I’m so worried that I won’t be able to get pregnant. What state are you living in?

OMG..I didn’t think that there were ladies out there dealing with this situation.  My Fiance had a vasectomy approx 6 years ago.  In June of this year he got his reversal.  Its pretty nerve-wrecking as I am hoping that this works.  He has been taking 6 different vitamins a day (which helps increase sperm count) and has stayed away from the steam room at the gym (which decreases sperm count).  He submitted his 1st sample in October and the doctor stated that his count was at 10 million (which is low but still good).  We will be submitting a 2nd sample in December.  Hopefully this sample is even better.

@chela1208:  Congrats on your reversal!  So he had a vasectomy for 6 years before getting it reversed?  My hubby is close to 9 years so we are hoping to get his reversed ASAP!  Can I ask how much it cost for the reversal?  Blingy and I have been emailing and it looks like its right about a 7k average.

We have our first appointment with the reversal doc tomorrow morning!  Im nervous but excited to get more information!!  Lets all keep our fingers crossed that we have successful reversals and future pregnancies!

Soontobekatieb- Thanks so much :o)  I am praying that it all turns out fine :o) I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for you and Blingy.  Trust me, I know how you ladies are feeling.  I was very nervous, anxious & excited when he got his reversal. The research part can be very overwhelming.  I think at this point, I know ALLLLL about the male testicles and sperm production!!! LOL

It costed us $6100.  Insurance will pay for them to get the vasectomy but they will not pay for the reversal (UGHHH).  One good thing that should we need to do IVF, the insurance will pay for it.  I am hoping that it will not come to it.

Good Luck on your appointment!!! Please let me know how it turns out!!

Thanks girls! We actually had to reschedule our appointment for next Tuesday. It looks like next tuesday (aside from being our secret 1 year anniversary) is “baby day”! hahah. I have my obgyn appointment in the morning and then the reversal appointment in the afternoon. Im going to get “Taking charge of your fertility” today at Borders. So hopefully that will help me understand more. πŸ™‚

It looks like you both had prices lower than the one we were quoted, so Im going to keep looking around…hopefully we can find something more afffordable with just as much experience. Im affraid of the whole “get what you pay for thing” so I dont trust anyone that is super cheap, like 1k or something. πŸ™‚

Wow so glad I came across this post. My new husband is getting his vasectomy reversed in the next few months and I’m so afraid it won’t work. It’s been 9 years since his vasectomy and I read that the longer you wait the less likely it is to work. I’m probably a little older than the rest of you ladies so my biological clock is ticking as loud as Big Ben! lol

@soontobekatieb: Good luck on your appt next week!

Im so happy there are more people here! yay!  I also have heard the 10 year rule…though there are always the exceptions to the rule in that you can be WAY past the 10 year mark and be successful. My hubby is also at 9 years, so Im in the same boat as you, Cheeks!

I picked up a copy of Taking charge of your fertility.  Its a big book!  haha. The cover kinda bothered me…seemed old looking. I know, Im not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I totally do when it comes to actual books. πŸ™‚

Any of you ladies charting or tracking your ovulation yet? I did a week worth of the OTC ovulation tests and it didnt detect any surge… It worries me a little, but Im not panicing yet. Now I have a yeast infection (sorry, TMI) so I dont think I cant do the test while that is going on.

Yay for all of us finding each other, and thanks to Blingy for starting this thread!!!

@soontobekatieb: No charting here. I’ve always been one of those weird women who can feel whenever they are ovulating so I’m just going to go with it. I did tell hubby that if it didnt happen in a year that that was it. My doctor diagnosed me with Adenomyosis so I either have to have a baby asap or have a hysterectomy soon πŸ™

@Cheeks11:  I always get cramping when I’m ovulating (at least I think thats whats going on). I’ll check it out and make sure thats whats actually happening. I think my mom had Adenomyosis. She has it scraped…does that sound right?  I hope for your sake, you have a baby soon. There is always adoption or a surrogate though!

@soontobekatieb: Even when I’m on birth control I can still tell when I’ve ovulating. Some months are more painful than others. I’m not familiar with any scraping. My doctor told me the only option for me was to have the hysterectomy whenever I got tired of dealing with it. My menstrual cycles are extremely heavy and horrific so I stay on birth control right now to keep from having them. Fortunately I have 3 boys already so if for some reason we can’t conceive I won’t be completely devastated. We would just like to have a child together and maybe I can finally have the little girl I’ve always wanted πŸ™‚

Hi Guys :o)  Yes, I too, love the fact that there are females out there in the same situation as I am in.  Trust me, it has not been easy (research, saving for the procedure & going through the procedure).  I, too, have heard of the 10 yr rule but everybody is different.  When we went for consultation, he showed us lots of picture albums of the people that he has “helped”.  I was shocked as some of the men there have had their vasectomy 20-30 years prior and after the reversal they were able to conceive.  There was one man from China who had gotten his vasectomy done 36 years ago. His young wife was able to have a baby a 1 1/2 after the reversal.  Heck if he can have kids me too :o)  LOL
