At our rehearsal dinner, we plan on presenting both sets of parents with a gift. For us it will be a nice card and a promise that after the wedding we will give them a photo album with our wedding photos.

I did something similar to Bichon.  I gave my Mom a card as we were getting beautified for the big day.  One of my favorite pics is her reading the card.  During the ceremony, we gave our Mom’s long-stemmed roses (and our Dad’s cigars).  I had my Mom give her blessing/prayer at the reception prior to dinner.  Of course, she added many beautiful words about us too.  After the wedding, I made her an album, which she loves very much.

At the rehearsal, I wore her wedding dress (after I had it altered to knee-length).  Then, at the rehearsal dinner, I gave her a professional framed photo of me in her dress before the alterations.  She completely broke down in tears.  It was pretty awesome.  She had no idea I was going to do any of it.

I’ve given my mum a string of pearls and matching earrings that I bought for her with the same jewellery money that we used to buy our rings. I haven’t got anything for my mother in law yet and I don’t know what to do!

Lately, my mom has been asking me about my childhood memories….what my first memory is etc. etc.   I was thinking I might write a letter/list of tons of my fond memories to give to her on our wedding day (I’d do the same for my dad).  Haven’t decided yet, though. 🙂

we presented both mothers a bouquet of flowers in front of everyone after the wedding speeches and I got them both a mimco handbag which I gave them a week later as a private gift.

At our reception, when Darling Husband and I were giving our thank you speech, I thanked my mom last, said very touching things about her and her contribution to our wedding (and to my life) and then I gave her my bouquet. She cried. She loved it.
