My fiance is Vietnamese and I am white. I will be wearing an ao dai but I was wondering if it is ok to wear the ao dai for the ceremony portion in the church. i also wonder if i will look like ok in an ao dai, I don’t want to look silly. I always see the vietnamens women in the dresses and they look so gorgeous, I just don’t want to look out of place.

I’ve seen most Vietnamese brides wearing the ao dai during the tea ceremony (if you’re having one of those). They usually wear the "western" white gown during the church ceremony. I’ve also seen brides change into the ao dai for part of the reception.
All women look gorgeous in ao dais… don’t worry about looking out of place!

i think non vietnamese women look amazing in ao dai (this coming from a vietnamese girl, I know!)! The previous response is accurate in when the ao dai is to be worn. You will look magnificant! if you don’t have the tea ceremony, you can just change into the ao dai portion of your reception (when you’re greeting your guests).
