you need to discuss this with the apartment management- did they approve your application yet? what day are you getting married? most places have a move in date as the 1st of the month

I’ve picked the move-in date for every apartment I’ve rented (which has been 4, including college). But like PP said, you first need to apply and get approved. Then your management company should go over the stipulations of your lease with you, which will include discussing your move-in date.

nila06:  The answers that will be helpful are dependant on where you live. I’ve rented in Toronto and in NYC, both of which were really hard to find a nice place in. Finding a trustworthy broker or real estate agent was key for every post-university apartment I have rented, and they will be your point person to figure out how far in advance you should look.

If your goal is to move in right after the wedding, I would aim to have an apartment rented and reasonably furnished the month before your wedding date. It would minimize stress.
