I haven’t hiked it but reading a Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson was eye opening. A really good book about hiking the trail. It all depends on the time of year (guessing May) and where you are located or how far you want to travel. The further north you go, the more comfortable it would be temperature-wise, especially if you’re going for 4 weeks.

I know a few that have taken that as their honeymoon! I like the part through GSM, but that’s probably because it is so close.

I grew up in Roanoke, VA right along the trail. I think you’d be ok hiking that section in May/June. Even though summer will be coming, you’ll be in the mountains with great shade, so you’d probably be reasonably cool.

Other than that, though, I don’t have an recommendations for what section to hike. I’m sure all of it will be beautiful!

Oh, and I’ve been near the trail in the GSM (not hiking, just driving), and it is seriously beautiful.
