I don’t have any tips (sorry!) but just wanted to say that would be an awesome favor, apple butter is delicious!

I made those as our favors! I used 4 oz jars, and start to finish (including making the apple butter) took about 12 hours for 160 jars. Make sure you keep replenishing the water used to boil the jars, and wipe around the top rim before placing the lids on. Make sure to check them the next morning too (and on the day of the wedding) because we had about 12 jars not seal!

@DoctorBride:  Yup.  That’s pretty much the advice I was going to give.  It does take a little longer than expected, but it’s worth it.  This is what our’s look like

@Brideonabudgetlauren:  Mine looked the exact same but with plaid and fall leaves for the fabric! Everyone loved them, and I bet you heard the same!

I never canned before and I think it’s a lot of work but if your trial works out, go for it! I love apple butter!

I’ve never canned before either, although I know there are a few tricks to make absolute sure you kill all the bacteria in the jars/cans before you add the jam or butter. So make sure you go through all the steps so the guests don’t get sick. It sounds yummy!!! Good luck!

@MsVoyageur:  Yeah, to kill all of the bacteria in the jars we boiled them in water for 15 minutes.  Boil, fill cans, wipe clean, put the lids on, put them back in the water.  It’s a little tedious but it’s worth it
