So I got my BFP on Friday, and just scheduled my 8 week appt!
The thing is, I live about 20 minutes north of Boston, but work in Boston. The place I called for my appointments is near where I live, and they said they deliver in Boston, in a hospital close to where I work.
My question is, is it silly for me to schedule my preg. appointments closer to home, knowing that I probably will have quite a few of them?
I take the commuter rail into work, so in total about an hour commute. When I have appts, I would have to account for the appt time and commute time to go into work, likely will be missing half days each time. I can afford to do that (sick/vacation days), but don’t know if I’m just being dumb.
Should I just go to my appointments near work?

Congrats on your BFP! If you can go to your appointments near work I recommend that. It is much easier to sneak out and take a little longer lunch than to come in hours late or leave hours early. You won’t believe how many appointments you end up having and I’d hate to see you have to use all your sick/vaca time.

Appointments near work since it’s closer to the hospital and if you have any problems you have a shorter commute to the hospital. Maybe they can do some at the office near your home and some at the office near your work?

Do you have to have them all at the same place? I agree with the others that it’s probably better to do them near work, especially since that is where you will deliver anyway, but just wondering if you have the option to switch to closer to home near the end, say, if you go out of work a few weeks before delivery or something.
I’m curious which hospital you are going to, since I’m in the Boston area as well.

Thank you all. I guess it seemed like so far they were very nice where i called, and its a small hospital, so the care might be better than going into the big hospital on Boston. Gah – decisions!
@foodnerd81: My OB appt are scheduled now in Harvard Vanguard in Burlington; Delivery in Beth Israel.
I feel silly cancelling with HV, and now trying to call BI. Oh well, I’m sure they don’t care if I switch.
I’ll sleep on it and talk to hubby.

@luli29: congrats on your BFP! i 2nd other posters that all that time off will add up quickly and appts closer to work are probably easier.

I think that might be the smartest thing to do. Will probably call the new hospital tomorrow.

@luli29: Congratulations! I know how bad you have wanted this. My OB is close to work, which hasworked great for me. I go in to work a little late after my morning appts.
