We just used the appraisal from the jeweler for the center stone, but weeks does not sound normal.  I dont understand why they need your ring there, if they are going to get all the specs from the jeweler that made your ring.  And I dont get why they need the EXACT model anyways.  An apprasial should just be for the value of the ring to have it remade or bought again and usually just an estimate… or at least I thought that’s all it was.

@MrsHoneyC:  That doesn’t sound right to me but our only appraisal came from the company we bought it from.

Gorgeous set though!

@MrsHoneyC:  Go back in. That’s not right. An appraisal has NOTHING to do with a model number. If that were the case anyone with any type of vintage piece would never get an appraisal because they couldn’t provide original “model numbers.” There’s definitely something wrong. Get your rings back, find someone else to do the appraisal. By The Way, our GIA lady was able to do it on the spot in less than 30 minutes so the fact that they would have it for almost a month is crazy.

I had one place tell me if would take two weeks for an appraisal because of the amount of diamonds in my bands, but I dont see why they would need a model # just to give a value. The jeweler should be able to determine the specs on a stone I would assume, isn’t that the point of the appraisal? lol

I didn’t give them my ring to appraise. Just rang the jeweler and said “hey can you send me a valuation for insurance please” and they posted it to me. I’d go get it back too <3

@MrsHoneyC:  I’m not clear –you took your ring to another jewelry store to be appraised? I can see where they would want to find out how much you paid for it since the industry standard is to inflate the appraisal and they don’t want to make you mad, but–it is odd.

Either way, go get it back, these people are doofuses.

I took mine in and 1 hr later I was walking out the door…a jewerly appraiser does not need to have specks from another place before he can tell you the value of your rings. Mine didnt have any info from the other place.

1-2 weeks later I went back to pic up the paperwork and that is only cause the secretary who types them up was sick.

Take it to someone else that is stupid.
