I think it depends on your age too. I went to a black tie gala when I was 18 and wore a cocktail dress like the other teens and those in their early 20s. As cocktail dresses are relatively informal and youthful, it looked more appropriate on the youthful. Actual adult women, however, would have stood out in anything but a gown. Embrace it! When else besides a wedding or bridesmaid dress do you get to go floor-length?

I’ve still been madly searching for a dress and I stumbled upon this, pseudo floorlength gown.
The wedding is in the evening, 8pm. This color isn’t too bright is it? I want to wear beige, lace stilettoes with it.
Should I get some kind of shawl/shoulder wrap?
