I think it’s lovely, but if you’ve got that feedback then maybe you’re hearing that this wedding is more casual?

HOnestly though, wear whatever you want.  People get way too bent out of shape trying to control what others wear.

Oh my word! I don’t thnk you are trying to outshine anyone! The dress is wonderful and simple! If the bride has a similar dress than that’s an issue or if the wedding is super casual I still think this is a nice dress to wear. You can have beach curl wavy hair and make the dress casual with a necklace. (The necklace may be too much, but if you find the right necklace it would be gorgeous!)

Totally better than wearing jeans to a wedding!

hmmm57:  Yes, I think so.  But I think it’s more about the time of day (afternoon or evening ceremony) and the overall level of formality of the wedding.

I went to a destination wedding at a different Dreams resort (Punta Cana) and most of the guests wore knee length dresses, including myself, but I don’t think what you have chosen is too formal. I’m a bridesmaid in an upcoming destination wedding in Cuba and the bride chose long gowns for us. Every wedding is different and you probably know best about how formal it will be, I think the fabric is just right for that kind of climate and it’s not too showy or anything.
