I don’t think anyone should be consuming less than 1300 calories while pregnant although I understand the food aversions and nausea can have an impact. Maybe you should adjust your poll to include more options as most would be eating more than 1300 calories. 700 is extremely low for anyone

Anyway, I don’t necessarily eat more when I work out because I am already consuming more than normal. I just eat a snack if I’m hungry at the end of the night (I work out at about 8pm right now unless it’s a weekend and I can get one at 8-9am). I’ve tracked calories some days just to get an idea of where I am at since I’m eating more than normal and I probably eat 2000-2200 calories a day in the second trimester. I don’t track them everyday though, just once and awhile to make sure I’m not completely overdoing it. Probably more some days lol but that is a good estimate for an average good day. I don’t specifically eat more for a workout day, just if I happen to be hungry bedfore bed. Maybe more like 1800 first trimester.

If you’re only eating 1000 calories and then working out then yes I would try to replace the calories you burned by eating more.

BreezyBride24:  I agree with Kes that 1000 calories is way too low-espcially for a pregnant mom!   I’ve never been big into counting calories, so I can’t really give you a number, but I find that I need an extra snack on days I workout, usually within 60 -90 minutes of my workout.  Sometimes I even have to cut my workout short because I get hungry or feel my blood sugar dipping a little too low.

I read that the minimum you should consume while pregnant is 1600 calories.

I tried to stick to 1600-1800 in the first trimester as to not gain too much weight (I gain very easily and have issues with my weight), so far in the second trimester I’ve been super hungry so I’ve been closer to 2000-2200.

Maybe try getting higher calorie/fat versions of the foods you can stomach, like 9% yogurt, whole grain breads for more nutrition, higher calorie fruits, like bananas, try adding in some peanut butter.

I had a hard time eating certain foods in the first trimester too, I barely was able to eat meat at all so I made sure to get protein from other sources.
