DaneLady any particular reason for not jogging? im not as far along as you, so was just wondering if its because its uncomfortable? I really dont wanna give it up yet, but ive heard you pelvis can start to be a real B**** when doing higher impact activities. I have also had constipation like crazy! So sorry for the TMI!!! im dairy intolerant so ive never been constipated in my life as i cant go a week without it lol. but now i can have it every day and still it wont budge. Jogging is the only thing that works for me. I really dont want to give it up. I am giving up Basketball after this season, (only two more weeks), because it doesnt start up till im about 28weeks, so i dont think ill be able to play for sure by then. but that water class sounds great!

I haven’t been, but if you’re set on maintaining tone (of sorts anyway) try doing the stability ball pikes. To start, put your shins on the top of the ball, hands on the ground under your shoulders (like you’re starting a push-up). Keeping your knees straight, pull your thighs toward your chest and roll your legs over the ball until your toes/tops of your feet are on the ball, and your butt is pointed up toward the ceiling. As long as you keep a tight core, this shouldn’t stress out your lower back at all. You can also do side planks if you want. I think the key is to avoid being flat on your back. I stopped doing all my strength training mostly because I’m lazy 🙂
I am stopping the jogging mostly because I’m lazy. I get tired, I’d rather be in a temperature controlled gym or relaxing in a pool. I did notice some ankle swelling after my half marathon, but it was likely a combination of increased fluid in my body along with being on my feet for serveral hours on end. I had to pee more frequently, and I was more hungry than usual when I finished. Part of my problem is that I was getting a little bored with my longer runs because I am running so SO SO MUCH SLOWER than I am used to. As much as I love to run, I told myself that as soon as it was uncomfortable or no longer fun, that’s it- I’m done. I got through the half marathon, and at that point I feel like I’ve accomplished what I set out to do and I can confidently hang up my stinky old shoes for now.

@mrsrangrang: I love Kraken! We were joking around a few months ago and the hubs said, “it needs a solid name like Zeus, or Stonewall Jackson.” Well Stonewall stuck. Now EVERYONE is calling the baby Stonewall or Stoney. Sheesh.

Our dear friends named their new baby Avery, and we teased them they were naming her after the brewery. We countered that WE could be cool, too, and would name our baby Dogfish Head. Which really works for a boy or girl, so.

DaneLady yeah i totally get the boredom bit. ive taken to running with my ipod, i never ever liked it before when i was putting in a whole lotta effort, but now i find i need it to keep me going. and i used to judge my fitness by how much i coudl keep up with one of my dogs who is a super fit freak, and now i cant keep up wth him at all… but my other dog who has arthritis is now loving coming for a jog with me as he can keep up.. and yeah sometimes beats me. but is still coolish in the mornings where i live, (which isnt texas, i just put in what ever when i joined, so ppl i knew wouldn’t know it was me,) but its going to get hot really quickly and ill prob give up then. i oly like morning exercise, i hate it in the afternoon, unless its a team sport.
SweetSalz21 ha ha love your babys name too! we were discussing some names and Zeus came up to, because in another of hubbies favourite movies (die hard), it has a dude in it called zeus and the guys is explaining his name, “Yeah, Zeus! As in, father of Apollo? Mt. Olympus? Don’t f*** with me or I’ll shove a lightning bolt up your a**?”. but stoney is cute! 🙂

I do Crossfit and have stopped doing any ab work that requires me to lay flat on my back. Instead, I substitute planks or knees to elbows (hanging from the pull-up bar).
Excited to hear whether you’re Team Pink or Team Blue!
I hear you on the therapeutic nature of working out. I still do it because (a) it makes me feel better about myself, (b) it helps me sleep better, and (c) I like to think of it as training for L&D (is that totally weird?!).
As for what we call the baby……we are totally boring and just call it “the baby.” I guess we need to put our creative hats on and come up with a better nickname!

IT’S A GIRL!!!!
She was a little stubborn & wouldn’t get out of the breech position so I actually had to get up and walk the halls/get a drink for 10 minutes just to get her to move into a more favorable position. Finally on the second try she gave up the goods. We are so excited!

By the way – EVERY SINGLE old wive’s tale was wrong, except for the heartrate one. She was consistently reading at or above 150 BPM at every appointment.

our 2nd NT scan/ anatomy scan/gender reveal is tomorrow! The hubs & i are hoping for a girl…but more so, a happy healthy baby. 🙂 positive thoughts would be immensely appreciated!
so far, i’ve been blessed with minimal pregnancy symptoms (only a little nausea and no fatigue) and i’m carrying on the low side. heart rate has been high every visit, in the 160+ range.
any guesses? i’ll be sure to post the big reveal tomorrow after our appointment! 🙂

I’m in the public system. Not that I’m counting, but 25 work days to go!!!!!!! 🙂 We just call her ‘Baby Jag’ or ‘Baby Girl’. Not very creative, eh? (We used to call her the Jellybean, but she’s too big now!)
Abdominal fullness. I may use that from now on instead of the whole creepy bowling ball analogy. Glad it’s not just me!
Work is exhausting when pregnant – I never realised just how draining it could be – even now in the second trimester! What’s your gut for boy/girl?
I avoid the dentist at the best of times, even more so now. Dental phobe, right here. 🙁
