@mrsrangrang:  Our little one is now “Baby Turtle”.  When we went to the ultrasound Darling Husband commented how the previous ultrasound pictures looked like blobs to him, so the midwife did a great job narrating the scan and identifying everything.  When it got to the gender reveal, she was like “look right here- you see the little turtle, that means its a boy!”  DH was very excited and the nickname Turtle has stuck.

@lilbear:  I’m  sorry your ultrasounds have been so rough. It sounds like things are done a little differently here in the U.S.  I’ve had some great experiences with the ultrasound.  Ours are done in office.  There is a nurse practicioner/midwife who does the scans, and she is great!  The room is set up so she has a computer screen facing her, and there is a tv wall mounted that I can watch, and Darling Husband or whoever I bring can also see it.  When we did the anatomy scan Darling Husband made a comment about how he can never tell what anything is in the ultrasound pics, that they look like blobs, so she was great about narrating it for us.  She showed us each organ, and body part as she found it and measured it, and explained how she was using one body part to find the next etc. She showed us the heartbeat, how they measure it, explained it was in the normal range.  She also told us the baby’s lenght/weight based on the measurements and that it was also in the normal range.  At the end she had abou 15 pictures printed.  She gave us 6 of those- one of the whole baby, one of the heart beat, two of his little boy parts, and two upper body/head shots.  The rest stay with my file and go to the doctor for review.  Oh and she also did a “cervical measurement” for us- baby did not want to cooperate and show us what he was. He’s in a breech position so it was impossible for her to see with the regular ultrasound.  We didn’t really need the cervical measurement that exam, but doing it meant she could do the transvaginal ultrasound and tell us boy or girl.  I’d have been in tears if they didn’t talk to me through it and tell me what was going on, I was super nervous about everything being the right size, baby being healthy etc.

@mrsrangrang:  I didn’t know you were in Sydney! (or Australia, really!) – awesome! I was very VERY prepared for a little man… so I’m mostly clueless about girl stuff now. Would have been happy with either, of course – I am still just so thrilled.

@ChocolateLime:  I’ll have to do that morph thing again! ๐Ÿ™‚

@lilbear:  Mine have all been pretty good so far. The NT scan was scary, but she had it on a tv monitor in front of me the whole time. She was very good at explaining what she was searching for, too, so that was good. I’m still panicking about the upcoming morph scan at 19 weeks though.

@Baileyh:  I’m still super excited for you!

Thanks for reassuring me ladies that this is NOT normal. I live in NYC so I’m not sure why my u/s imaging place handles their appointments like this. Today I spoke with my sister and 2 different pregnant coworkers. They ALL said they saw the screen the entire time – projected onto a tv in the room. I think that if I have to have any other U/S in the future I am going to ask my dr to please let me have it done anywhere else than that office she sends us to.

Today I went baby clothes shopping – all ready to stock up on girly clothes. I didn’t see much that wasn’t christmas/holiday themed. What I picked up was still gender neutral but totally perfect for baby bear. Maybe as her going home outfit?? So exciting! Btw I picked this up at H&M – they have some super cute stuff in stock!

Wow, so much has happened this week for everyone. It is awesome that everyone is finding out the genders of their LO’s! So exciting to know what everyone is having.

I had an insane week at work, so at night I’ve been taking it easy after dinner and going to bed early. I’m so glad it is the weekend.

Wednesday marked 20 weeks for me! I can not believe it! I haven’t taken a pic yet this week, hopefully I’ll get to it this weekend. I’ve definitely been feeling more kicks lately. I love it. My headaches have been getting less frequent and not as bad and that is good. Now I’m starting to have a difficult time finding a comfortable sleeping position. I’m normally a stomach sleeper, but this really isn’t happening any more.

As for the u/s experience, here it is just so strict. Nobody is aloud to come in the room with you and you can’t watch anything while they do all the medical images. So you get to just lay in silence. Then Darling Husband was aloud in for the last 5 minutes and she showed us both. She was really great about pointing out all the limbs, heart etc. We then got one pic to bring home with us.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

For the ladies who have felt their baby move already, where do you feel it?  Near your belly button, hips, ribs etc?  They told me at my exam last week that any movement right now would be low- below the belly button level.  But I keep feeling “something” right under my ribs.  Its like a strange pressure/movement at first I though it was just gas.  I noticed tonight though that if I push at the spot where I felt it right after, I get more movement there. It doesn’t seem like gas would do that right?

@nikkialys:  I feel movement and kicks low, below my belly button and sometimes just off to the side of there.

i feel and see kicks very low down right above the pubic bone. Only once have i felt what i can only assume was a little hand up near my belly button. I think my placenta must be at the top in front which is why im only feeling the feet low down.

So excited to hear everyone is doing well.  Loving all the new clothes you ladies are buying.  I know as soon as Darling Husband and I find out the gender next week I’ll be out shopping myself. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been feeling baby Koz move for about 4 weeks now.  But this past Monday was the first time I felt a ‘thump’…little kicks!!  I woke up about 10 minutes before the alarm went off in the morning and was just lying there.  Then all of a sudden I felt the thump and then a few seconds later, another.  I was so excited!

Here is my weekly photo – 20w2d.

Lock up your daughters.. Stonewall is a boy!

He showed us the goods right away and seemed to be taking a nice little nap… upside down! His head was down already.  The tech kept shaking my belly and eventually he bounced around.  We saw the heart beating, the umbilical cord and he was using the placenta as a pillow.  Silly boy.

I was hoping for team pink but now that we’re team blue… I’m excited!
