@DaneLady:  I haven’t stopped eating med. rare steaks. Most e. coli concerns come from ground meat, not higher quality cuts. Having said that, we did just have a HUGE beef recall in Canada and some of the meats implicated were machine-tenderized steaks (becuse the machines can spread the bacteria). We buy all our meat from a local, organic butcher though, so I’m pretty confident that it’s not coming from a giant factory with sketchy inspection processes (and it’s certainly not machine-tenderized!).

I also eat runny eggs sometimes.

I am a bad pregnant lady.

@ChocolateLime:  I had runny (over easy) eggs last weekend I didn’t even think twice when I ordered them and when they came they looked SOOOOooo good I couldn’t bear to send them back! I have been pretty good so far other than that (and the occational Jimmy John’s sub which my doc OKed) so I didn’t feel too bad.

But I REALLY want sushi (and no not the kind with cooked fish (which is what everyone suggests when I whine about craving it)) I never loved the raw part of sushi before (I mean I ate it but it wasn’t my favorite part of the whole experience) but now… SPICEY TUNA is all I can think about, the color, the texture, the flavor…. I know I could have it  now and then but I really want to just pig out on a whole boat load of it! I have teased Mr. Aardvark that I will need a huge platter ready and waiting at the hospital as soon as the baby is born!

@Candy_Nee:  How cool!  I’ve seen some other NC brides/moms to be on the boards, but a lot of them seem to be on the coast or out in Charlotte.

@nikkialys:  We’ll all wear the weight differently. It’s good to have perspectives though!

@lilbear:  Mine definitely looks more emphasised with clothes on vs nekkid.

@DaneLady:  Omg! I think if a stranger ever went to touch my body, I’d have tonnes of responses to shout out… but instead, I’d probably just stand there in shock too!

As for food, I suck lately. I’m so ridiciulously fussy.

Breakfast: roll with egg & cheese, fruit juice
Lunch: chicken & lettuce sandwich with southwest sauce (subway! yummo!)
Dinner: here’s where I struggle. Whatever I feel like, which is hard to describe. Sometimes just fruit salad, sometimes toast, sometimes a real meal. The best meal I’ve eaten lately was a basil and parmesan risotto.

Hubby is leaving for a conference in Germany for nearly five weeks – and I’ll be alone here. I’m fine with that, except for the food thing. He’s good with nagging me to eat.. I’m going to have to set reminders on my phone or something.

@ChocolateLime:  I’ve had runny eggs a few times. The way I see it is I don’t eat eggs very often at all, so when I do I’m going to eat them how I like them best. I even had a glass of wine on our anniversay, we’d been saving that bottle for a year.

@Mrs. Aardvark:  Sushi would be so good. We were watching a show tonight and they were at a sushi restaurant and it really made me want some.

@hergreenapples:  I haven’t bough beef since the recalls. I already don’t care for store bought beef and this just tuned me off more. Luckily it is hunting season, so hopefully DH fills our freezer again this year. Chicken is expensive.

Everyone seems to be eating so well. I do my best, but I seem to be getting tired of a lot of foods. I eat the same things most days and the only meals that vary is dinner and my evening snack.

I have a bowl of cereal for breakfast, either cheerios or cornflakes. At work in the mornings I usually have two snacks. Normally a granola bar and a piece or fruit. For lunch I have oatmeal (if there are leftovers from the night before then I’ll eat that), a big glass of milk, yogurt and a piece of fruit. Then one afernoon snack, either a fruit cup or applesauce. Dinners lately have been mostly chicken dishes. Then I have one or two more snacks at night. Usually frozen yogurt and if I’m still hungry fruit.

@DaneLady:  I’ve been probably drinking around the same each day. I’ve just been so thirsty. And most of it is water. It is just crazy.

@Mrs. Jaguar:  Have lots of food that is easy to grab to eat so that way you don’t have to go through the hassle of cooking for yourself so much. Usually when DH is away I’ll cook one dinner that can last 3 or 4 nights so that I can just warm it up each time.

Due Date: 13 April, 2012

First child? No, second.

Team Pink/Blue/Green/Undetermined: Team Blue!

Oddest pregnancy symptom to date: My heightened sense of smell. I can smell EVERYTHING. Sometimes I feel like a bloodhound, I’d be able to locate missing people at this rate.

Feel any fetal movement yet: Flutters

Best pregnancy moment so far: The day I received my results from the MaterniT21 test and my husband and I found out we were having a baby boy. I felt I could finally breathe.

Any words of advice for fellow April mamas? Enjoy every minute and take some time to get pampered.

@Mrs.RDV:  I think I’m going to grab some decent frozen meals, too. Just in case I get lazy!

@ChocolateLime:  Mmmm. I love jacket potatoes. Never managed to be any good at cooking them here at home, though.

There’s been a lot of great discussion on here lately!

My menu has been horrible.  I’m making a point to get healthier food at the grocery store when I go later today.

My typical workday menu is:

Breakfast – Piece of toast with light butter or breakfast burrito, tea with honey
Snack – Greek yogurt or granola bar
Lunch – Lean Cuisine, soup, or leftovers from the previous nights dinner, string cheese, couple pieces of chocolate
Dinner – Anything…frozen pizza, chicken and rice, soup, fajitas, etc

Yesterday’s menu was not so good: granola bar for breakfast, chicken tortilla soup and cheese fries for lunch, and salad and Chicago deep dish pizza for dinner (Lou Malnati’s for any of you that know Chicago pizza – my favorite!!)

I feel like my tummy is getting bigger but I still don’t think it looks like a bump.  I still feel like it looks mostly like I ate too much.  Hopefully that will change within the next few weeks.

Here’s my bump photo for the week – 17w2d

DH will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary next weekend (Mon, 11/5 is our actual anniv).  We are spending the day in Chicago eating great food and seeing the jelly fish exibit at the Shedd Aquarium…which I’ve wanted to do for 6+ months.  Cannot wait.

Happy Sunday to all of you!!

I tried to go running this morning and (for the first time in this pregnancy) I had an overwhelming urge to pee, which caused me to cut my run short. I peed right before my run started and I had to stop 4 more times during my run to pee again. (Thank God the park I run at has two bathrooms on each end!) I only ran 3.5 miles because every step while running felt like baby bear was pulverizing my bladder. I only had 1/2 a glass of water before leaving to run and hadn’t had anything else to drink before that, so I was surprised this was such a problem for me today. Do any of you preggo runners have this problem? Any advice on how to get around it? If I slow down to a walk, the urge to pee diminishes or goes away, but I don’t want to switch to only walking – I love running and don’t want to give it up yet!

@lilbear:  I’ve heard of this happening during running. I also ran 3.5 today 🙂 but I have yet to experience that urge to pee. My friend who works out every day told me that she had to stop running which preggo and mainly lifted weights or did the eliptical. I think that I will switch to biking (on a trainer) for cardio, but I am sure once the belly grows bigger that will also be difficult.
