@mrskornegaytobe: The bridesmaids/groomsmen are actually all spread out across the country and we didn’t want them to have to spend time and money on “travelling twice” – once for the buck’s/hen’s party and then again (to a different city) for the wedding. So the week of seemed like the best option for everyone, because we’ll all be there already.
And here are two tips, tried and tested by yours truly, which we’ll definitely use so we aren’t wrecked afterwards:
1. HANGOVER PREVENTION: After a big night out, pop 4 multivitamin tablets immediately before you go to bed… If you’re sober/conscious enough to remember. Your pee will probably be slightly green the next day (LOL!), but you won’t have a hangover.
2. HANGOVER REMEDY: So. You ended up just crashing into bed last night and forgot to pop your multivitamins. Don’t worry – Just eat a SHITLOAD of fruit when you wake up. Anything you can get your hands on, and binge away. Oranges, grapes, apples, berries, melons, bananas, pineapples, peaches, mangoes, anything. Literally eat until you can’t eat any more, give yourself some time to digest and regain your bearings and you will perk right up. Fruit is magic.

@mrskornegaytobe: That’s great! We got a lot of things we really needed, too. The only big things we still need are a vacuum (currently borrowing my brother and SIL old one), our bakeware (which someone has purchased! yay!) and our correlle dishware sets. We do have an old set from Future Mother-In-Law, but as my FI’s parents are in the process of separating now, she will probably need them back.
Haha, I think pole dancing would be awesome! But Fiance and my girls wouldn’t be too crazy about it. Have fun living my dream!
The only thing I’m really stressed about is making sure we have enough space for everyone… I have our set-up to seat 138-140 guests, plus Fiance and I at our own table. We invited 160, but knew a lot of people wouldn’t be able to make it during the school year. But now that rsvps are rolling in, A LOT of people are saying they’re coming! I’m a little nervous!

@misscupcake2012: See Me and Fiance had the same exact problem! Our first venue could only hold 180 in the chapel including the 18 ppl in our wedding party! and the reception area could only fit like 100! So we changed to our church, and now we have TOO MUCH ROOM! haha! But more and more people keep getting added by my mom and Mother-In-Law . lol i’m freaking out a little especially bc were doing a buffet style and the more people we have the more mouths we have to feed!!

@mrskornegaytobe: April 12 date twiiiiin!
Bridal Shower is March 15th and Bachelorette Party (wine tasting in Temecula, CA) is the weekend of March 28-30th! SO Excited!
Maid/Matron of Honor is sending out Bridal Shower invites this week (hopefully) and Bachelorette Party invites were sent out three or four weeks ago.
@katherin788: My Fiance is having the same issue. His friends are all dropping the ball when it comes to his Bachelor party. I feel awful. Do you think it would be rude to contact his guys (I have a pretty good relationship with a few of them) and help plan his party? How would your feel if your Fiance stepped in and got your girls’ butts in gear?

My wedding was last April. I had my bridal shower the last saturday in February, personal shower the first Friday in March and my bachelorette party the Friday before my wedding.

@mrskornegaytobe: Good question! We had a co-ed party in lieu of a shower February 8th (about 10 weeks before we leave for the wedding).
I haven’t heard anything about a bachelorette, and we only have 7 weeks until departure, now. So, I took it upon myself to organize a spa thing with my girls next time I’m in town (haven’t uttered the word “bachelorette”), because I want to do SOMETHING! We’ll be doing that in about 3 weeks.
Fiance is planning his bachelor party with his buddies, but he doesn’t know when they are going to do it (better get on it, since they are planning on taking a trip to Wyoming to one of the groomsmen’s house for a LAN party).

@distressddamsel: I contacted my FI’s friends to kick them in the butt a little bit and make sure they were working on something (they weren’t). Shortly after I kicked them in the butt, a loose plan formed. I don’t think it’s a problem to contact them as long as you don’t ask about the details, you just want to make sure they are working on something.

@distressddamsel: I was absolutely thinking about that lol I think I will absolutely do it for fiancé. I would feel great if he set it up for me….I have 6 weeks to go before the big day when do you usually have the bachelor party?

@distressddamsel: I was actually thinking about doing the same thing with my FI’s groomsmen. They haven’t started planning much as far as I know. Sometimes men need a kick in the butt (aka friendly reminder) nothing bad about that!

Congrats to all of you ladies who got a bridal shower and/or a bachelorette party! Since I’m having a destination wedding, due to most of our family and friends living far away from us – I don’t think I will have a bridal shower, especially when we have been receiving our wedding gifts in the mail. For the bachelorette party we’re having it couple of days prior the wedding in Playa del Carmen, with my sisters, Future Sister-In-Law and girl friends! 🙂
