I’m new to the bee but I wanted to share our story.
So my Dear Fiance and I have worked together for 2 years now, we met at work. I had a boyfriend so we were just really good friends. When my ex and I broke up, we started actually “hanging out” a lot outside of place and instantly we knew it was right. We started officially dating early September, moved in together in November, and yea. lol (I also have two children, 6 and 4, so that makes any relationship more serious).
End of May we went on vacation with his family (parents, sister and her best friend) to the Dominican Republic. It was such a beautiful place and the weather was perfect, though we got extremely sunburned and that part was miserable.
My Dear Fiance is typically a pretty laid back guy as far as plans go, and usually just goes with the flow, but we had booked a private dinner on the beach and went on an excursion (supposedly was a shopping excursion to “local” shops…. it wasn’t. they took us to ONE retail overpriced giftshop that had the same stuff as the resort). They had taken twice as long to get us there as quoted, even though we had told them our dinner reservation time and they swore we’d be back. So, my Dear Fiance was freaking out. He flipped out on the driver and made him take us back, separately from the group, so that we could make it to our reservations. I was annoyed too and typically that’s ME that would be so demanding and bitchy, so I didn’t really think much of it at the time.
We got to the beach and it was all beautiful, we had a great dinner with candlelight and champagne, and some amazing food with the best pineapple flan dessert I had EVER had in my life (seriously sooo good)!!!
Then a group of drunk older people came walking by on the beach (it was obviously NOT supposed to be walked through right there, we weren’t near the water or anything…) and then were adjusting the sound system and being pretty obnoxious trying to talk to us about the music, etc. They were really drunk and again, he got so frustrated when typically he’d just laugh it off.
Finally they left and the sun was setting, I had turned around to look at the sunset and when I faced forward again he was next to me, getting on his knee. He said he had this whole speech in his head but the moment he actually opened his mouth to say it, none of it came out except for How much he loved me and “Will you marry me”. I of course started crying and said yes, and took the ring 😉 😉 lol
Then I realized it was April Fools Day and told him “If you say April Fools I’m keeping the ring!”
We got back to our room and had a bubble bath waiting with rose petals all over the room. it was very sweet, even through the sunburn.
Oh and a pic of the ring!!
