@jen9999:  That’s awesome bee!! Fingers crossed for a great day 5 report!!

AFM, DH and I have decided to go ahead with IUI & sperm donor, hopefully on my next cycle! He will still consider the MicroTESE down the line to see if we can do IVF for future pregnancies. On the weekend we chose our sperm donor!! My only concern is that our donor is a carrier for 2 genetic diseases so we need to make sure that’s OK. Our RE said not to rule someone out because of that but we’d have to review with her before going ahead with a donor that’s a carrier. I have a call with my RE tomorrow to determine next steps. We’re hoping for an IUI cycle in May!

@Charliejeorge: That’s so exciting! Picking a donor sounds like a daunting task, so that’s great that you were able to decide on one. How great to be able to move forward soon.

We did genetic counseling as part of our basic fertility bloodwork and our counselor said most people are carriers for 2-3 things. Lo and behold DH and I both carried 2-3 things, though luckily none that overlapped. We’re both otherwise healthy with no family histories of the things we carried (hadn’t even heard of any of them). All that to say, I wouldn’t personally be put off by a donor who carries a couple things, but if you’re concerned an inexpensive blood test should be able to determine if you carry any of them.

@browneyedgirl24:  It was daunting! It took me a few times of viewing the site before I was actaully able to create an account haha. Every time I went on the site, I got a little further. Eventually I made a list of my favorites and DH was immediatly drawn to my top pic, so that was really helpful! That is what our RE told us too! I can get genetic testing for free (Canadian) but I think it takes a few months, which would be crappy. I havent heard of the one thing he’s a carrier for and the other is just an intolerance so not that big of a deal. A lot of the things people are carriers for are regional, so it’s possible I’m not even a candidate for those things. There is not history in his family of them so it’s likely just a dormant gene. Here’s hoping!!

@Charliejeorge:  My husband and I did genetic testing and both ended up being carriers for the same thing, also something I had never heard of.  Luckily because we each only carried 1 gene the risk of severe illness was so low that we were able to proceed without having to screen embryos.  So even if there is overlap it could stl turn out ok!

@morecookiesplease:  Hey bee! It’s so nerve-wracking, and bittersweet because its not what either of us would have chosen. But I’m excited to have a decision made and a plan!

Bees! OMG! I’m kind of a basket case lol. We are going to start an unmedicated cycle for May! I just bought some sperm from the internet. lol Its so weird! lol I talked to my RE this morning and the chances of me being a carrier for either thing that my donor is a carrier for is 0.005% and both the donor and I have to be carriers for it to be a concern. The donor we chose only had one vial left, so we decided to buy it before it was gone. I’m going to forego genetic testing for right now but may consider it in the future if this cycle is unsuccessful.  My clinic is only taking 50% of their IUI appointments, so it’s going to be a game of roulette to see if I can get in once I ovulate. That part has me kind of a mess!

@jen9999:  Looking good! I pray you get good news very soon about your mature follies. How was the retrieval? Are you recovering alright?

Today is CD1 for me. IUI#1 failed 🙁

I was considering taking a cycle off but my DH encouraged me to keep going. Will be having my baseline U/S for IUI#2 on Saturday. I am sad but I didnt have a complete meltdown. I think it’s because I knew deep down. I was testing out my trigger since it was my first one, the line really didnt start disappearing until 12DPIUI/14DPT, never got darker so I knew AF would be on her way. I started spotting yesterday and sure enough this morning… the red she-devil.

Bbay dust to everyone rolling over to May… Here I come CYCLE 19.
