@vintagebee17:  Google can definitely be the devil during IF treatment… not that I can stop Googling symptoms, side effects, etc. – even though I should.

So DH had his physical exam with the urologist today. We were expecting the worst but hoping for the best. The Dr confirmed his own suspicions; there is nothing physically wrong that is impacting DH’s fertility & sperm production. So nothing can be done about his 0 count. Our options remain 1) MicroTESE (up to 1 year wait) to determine sperm viability and then IVF if viable sperm found. 2) Sperm donor & IUI

We don’t have any insurance coverage for fertility procedures and a lifetime coverage of $2400 for fertility meds, so most of the costs of either procedure will be out of pocket.

@Charliejeorge:  sorry to hear bee, sounds frustrating… just wish things were more financially available to be honest. Because you would like answers to be able to make decisions. By doing the microTese does the doctor believe there is a good chance to find viable sperm?  I guess you can never know for sure but they must have cases like that from experience.

@jen9999:  Thanks hun! He was expecting this result, so its a hit to his ego but he’s not too upset about it.

@latebloomerbee78:  Thanks bee. I wish it was more financially viable too. This doc gave him a 50% chance of finding viable sperm, which is pretty good odds! But the wait time is really concerning. We’re into DH’s busy work season right now so he cant have the surgery until late 2021 anyways so we’re leaning towards starting with donor & IUI before long and then he’ll maybe have the TESE & freeze anything viable for future children. I don’t know if that’s crazy or not!

@northbee:  I’m so sorry to hear about your chemical. That’s so devastating. I went through a MC in January, and it was so heartbreaking. How are you feeling? There’s a lot of resources out there if you need help. Let me know if you want me to share any resources.

@jen9999:  sorry to hear your embryo didn’t make it to blast. Good luck with your next cycle! You are a warrior.

@Charliejeorge:  being in Canada through all of this is difficult with wait times. I almost went to NYC for my endo surgery, but just found out I’ll be able to get it done here May 3, which I feel like that’s a miracle. What province are you in? I’m in Ontario and had my first ivf procedure government funded.

AFM, surgery is a little over 3 weeks away. DH booked the week of my surgery off, which is going to be nice. I’m getting excited/nervous about it, but I’m super ready. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel

I am in shock, I think.

My beta test was positive – 194. I go back on Monday to see if my numbers are going up appropriately.

Commence excitement and terror. We lost our prev pregnancy at approx. 6.5 weeks. FX this one sticks!!!!!!!

@itsme1987:  That’s amazing you were able to get in so soon! It’s great your DH was able to take the week off, I hope it goes smoothly for you! That’s how it went for me with my hysteroscopy, i was booked in one week after my consult because he just happened to have an opening. Unfortunately even if they had openings for the TESE, unless it was in the next few weeks, DH would have to decline anyways because their busy season is starting and he’s the boss/owner. I’m in Sask so nothing is covered provincially, unfortunately. We could go to Manitoba for the surgery; a urologist there is able to get us in with a 3-4 week wait but with Covid, we’d have to isolate for 2 weeks before going and that’s not an option at this time of year for DH. We would definitely consider going to NYC if we end up doing IVF.  It just feels like the universe is shoving us in one direction right now and it seems crazy to fight it
