@Tory44:  I’m having the same issue with deciding on what sort of jewelry to wear. I’ve looked at pearls and I decided against that as far as a necklace goes. I kind of think I’m going to go the route of not wearing one unless anyone has a suggestion!

I do agree with the dramatic earring idea. I think those would look best, something like a teardrop look. Let me know if any of you ladies have any ideas!

I’ll try to remember to post a photo of the necklace I made when I get home.  I’m having a real struggle with the earrings right now.   This photo is of the necklace in the bridal shop, I based my necklace off of this design.  I’ve made the bottom half of the earrings already, they are almost identical to the final pearl and crystal piece in this photo:

I’m really struggling to find something to hang above the pearl to make the earrings dramatic.  I like these earrings, but I can’t find any similar settings to purchase:

If anyone knows where to buy nice earring findings like these ones, I’d love to get some tips.

Hi again,

Here’s a photo of the actual necklace that I made.  On the left hand side you can see the 2 pearl/crystal drops that I’ve prepared for the earrings.  Still searching for the top components.

I just wanted to share that our wedding was 1 week ago and it was fantastic.  The Arabella dress loosened up over the day so that by the first time I had to use the bathroom in it, we could pull it up to my chest (that wouldn’t have been possible first thing in the morning).  I wore it from 10:15am to about 8:30pm, when I changed into a dancing dress.  Walking in it was that bad after it loosened up, but sitting was still difficult even at dinner.  It was hard to breath while sitting, I tried to stand a lot, but I managed through it 🙂

I’d also recommend putting insoles in your shoes if you haven’t already.  The extra weight of the dress makes the bottom of the feet hurt in shoes (I mostly wore flats).  I haven’t ever been too secret about my real name (haven’t posted personal things), so if you want to check out our photographers “sneak peak”, feel free:

I love the one of Dave and I laughing as we stumble down the aisle during the recessional.  I kept tripping on the front of my dress and then my stopping would make Dave trip on the back of my dress.  In the end we were in a fit of giggles as I ran away from him down the aisle and then waited for him at the back of the church.

Can anyone help me with a question about the fitting of this dress? I didn’t find the dress mermaidy enough and want to have it adjusted to be tighter through my hips, thighs and knees with more flare and poof. On my figure, the dress just looks like a modified a-line rather that a mermaid dress.  Has anyone else made alternations or was the orginial fit just right for you?

@physicsbride

Thanks so much for the pictures! You and your wedding look great! …although now I’m nervous about the dress loosening.

Side note, LOVE the cake! (I’m a math teacher)

@Tory44  You must have a beautiful slim figure! I think you should be able to easily get it tightened if you like.

Mine is very firm and I’m trying to lose a bit of weight so I can more easily walk and sit!

@physicsbride thanks so much for your pics! You look stunning and you must be really happy with the pics.

I’m glad to hear the dress loosens up throughout the day!! I guess all dresses do but because it’s so firm we would really notice it more so it would be comfier.

You mentioned you kept stepping on the dress, did you have the length altered so it was the right hem length or was it hard to walk even at the right length?

sorry that was my first time adding a pic and I couldn’t add text

So this was the first time I got to try it on properly at the alterations lady – small space so train couldn’t come out ‘and play’ but you get the idea!!

It’s really firm on the thighs and butt as that’s my shape so I’m a little concerned about sitting down!! but hoping it goes ok.

@courtney226:  Thanks, yes we’re pretty happy with the photos so far!

Before the dress loosened, I couldn’t bend down to pick up the bottom of the dress myself, someone would have to hand it to me.  By noon, though, I was able to pick it up myself, which really helped my mobility.

As for the bottom, I didn’t get it hemmed. I ordered a petite and I’m 5’8″ and I wore flats.  I was maybe half an inch too long for my flats, but it looked just fine in the dress shop. Hemming was going to cost $300 because it’s lace, so I wasn’t about to do that if it didn’t look necessary.

The “problem” is that the lace is longer than the underlying satin skirt.  So the satin part was fine but the top lace layer is what sometimes tripped me up.  I just had to pick it up a little to walk, which meant some juggling for the recessional when I had the bouquet and a husband’s arm to hold.  Plus our aisle was very narrow. So when you pick up your skirt to walk you have to hold it a bit high so that the top layer is also off the ground.
