Hey all Brides-in-Training,
I know everyone has a different workout routine, but I thought I might share what helped me get over my hump. I was working out 3 days a week, varying between strength training, the ellyptical and the treadmill. I was doing my 30-40 minutes of cardio (as recommended) and about 15-20 mins of weights and resistance training. In the first few months, I lost 7 lbs. Which of course, I was thrilled about. But then I stopped losing and haven’t lost any more weight in over 1 month. Now I’m frustrated.
So I called my most fitness-centric Bridesmaid or Best Man and begged…work me out! What am I doing wrong? Teach me! I have another 5 lbs or so before I reach my goal weight.
She and I hit her gym during which she introduced me to the new "other" love of my life…the Arc Trainer.
In the same 30-40 mins I was spending running on the treadmill, I would normally only burn about 350 calories. In 30-40 (much easier I find) minutes on the Arc Trainer, I burn 600 calories. UNREAL!!!
This is due not to pain and greater exertion, but the arc trainer works your legs differently (think high knees) instead of the skiing motion of the ellyptical. My knees don’t hurt like they did when I ran either.
So in the last week, I lost 1lb. FINALLY!! I BROKE MY PLATEAU! So in short ladies, if you have hit that wall and are feeling frustrated at the gym, I suggest seeking out one of these bad boys. It may help.
