Just wanted to get the general consensus on acrylic plate chargers… are they tacky? I know when I’ve been to weddings as a guest in the past, I didn’t really pay attention to what the chargers were made of – or even if there were any. Thoughts?

I think if you’re going for the formal feel of chargers, they should actually be real chargers.

@xoxovmarie: Only a weirdo would notice lol!

As opposed to?
Seriously, what are real chargers made of? I wouldn’t notice! Mine were probably chargers, and they looked lovely to me.

@xoxovmarie: are talking about the hobby lobby/michaels acrylic chargers? It depends where your wedding is, what the style is, and how formal it is. I think they are tacky but my wedding is not a casual affair. I prefer glass ones.

I love the plastic ones they have at Michaels…. for making diaper cakes on. They seem way to cheap to put with formal china, though.

@xoxovmarie: I wouldn’t notice what they were made of. Personally, I have yet to see a charger plate that I actually like – I always find them a little tacky looking (probably because I’m not a fan of metallic china and all the chargers I’ve ever seen have been some metallic colour)

I’d just skip them all together.

Other than glass (clear) charger plates most if not all rental companies in my city rent the acrylic kind. I vote for totally fine.

I like them and I think the acrylic ones are fine. I’ve never seen anything other than the acrylic ones in real life at a wedding or other event. I wanted them for our wedding, but our tables are too small!

I probably wouldn’t notice at all what the chargers were made of. I would just look at the whole tablescape and be like, “Oooh, pretty!”

I think they’re great, I certainly don’t have the money to pay the $12 for glass chargers!

I’m having them, so I don’t think they’re “tacky” (biased, much? LOL). I don’t like the seam lines on the ones I bought from Michaels, though, so I spray painted every single one to get rid of it. If I wasn’t so frugal, I would have gotten the glass chargers, but at $6 a pop? Not for my budget. But to each his (or her) own!

I think you have to be very **curious** (to not say something else) to look into a detail like this as a guest…I say it’s a do…

I think they’re fine. I amusing them, but I did shop around and find which store had them cheap but not cheap looking. ie Dollar Store has them for $1/ea, but they look tacky. Michael’s has them for $1.50/ea but they look a million times better
