I consider the dishes to be part of the reception decor. Period. I can’t stand to put good food on hideous, clunky, chipped, industrial-paint-colored plates!
I’m seriously considering WASARA brand disposable plates, but they don’t make flatware… and other disposable flatware is either awkward or cheap/tacky… and real flatware with disposable plates would be weird… etc.
Am I crazy to think that if I’m going to pay $1-2 per plate, they shouldn’t ruin the look of my tables/the plating of my food?

I bought clear glass dishware from KMart Martha Stewart Everyday dishes, but we only had to buy for 65 people. You may find some that you like @ http://www.dollartree.com, and you can have them delivered to a local store for pick up so you won’t have to pay for shipping, if there is enough time. How many people are you having? And what are you serving? http://www.smartyhadaparty.com has plastic disposable dinnerware that appears to look good. But I haven’t ordered any. Walco has stainless flatware at instawares.com for awesome prices, better than dollartree. I just don’t know if you would have enough time to get them. If your venue isn’t too fancy or you don’t care if they match you could try thrift stores. Or do mix and match? Good luck!
