We went without a few:

  1. I walked down the aisle alone
  2. No speech from my dad  (I did one instead)
  3. No father-daughter dance
  4. No bouquet toss (garter toss isn’t a tradition here)
  5. No old, new, borrowed, blue

I’m sure I have forgotten a few more.

Mom AND dad are walking me down the aisle, no speeches/toasts, no bouquet or garter toss (no singles left in our friends circles!)  Non-traditional is the norm now IMO.

No father daughter or mother son dance the way it’s tradionally done.  We will have them but instead I will dance with my sons and fi will dance with our daughter.

@mishagirls79:  Yayyy!  It’s coming up so soon!  What made you pick your date?  I wanted a date with a good chance of having snow and after the holidays.

We also skipped the garter/bouquet toss.  I hate the idea.  In place, we did an anniversary dance and gave the toss bouquet to the wife of the couple who’d been married the longest.  Otherwise, we did all the traditional elements of a reception.

I walked down the aisle with my fiancee. But we also had a private ceremony overseas. At the reception, we pretty much managed to do all of the traditional things. I actually didn’t realise we did the ‘bouquet toss’ and the ‘garter thing’ but my friend has some photos. No-one could remember it AT ALL. We were all so plastered. Seriously. But it looked FUN!

We won’t be doing basically any of the traditions because our reception will just be a dinner.

I don’t think we were planning to do bouquet or garter toss, and we won’t be doing any speeches. We plan to do our “thank you” speech only, and do it IMMEDIATELY after the ceremony and signing.  We also don’t plan on “announcing us” at the reception hall either…  No cake… Haven’t thought about the father daughter dance – I think I will leave that one up to my Daddoo… haha
