peegee : I didn’t even wear heels for my interview.
Then again, I work as a computer programmer. There aren’t many women in the industry, and as long as I look presentable, no one cares. All the men wear khakis and polos (or so it seems), so I’m already the most fashionable person!

I wear flats to work all the time! If you want to be super fancy with it, teiks and Michael kors make flats that look and are expensive lol

I don’t think they look unprofessional, but I’ve yet to find a pair that I feel comfortable in. I have a high arch and flats just do not provide enough support for me.

I wear flats to work everyday. I only wear structured flats for better support and to me they look more professional.

I always wear flats but do agree with Julies that it depends on the type of flats.
I actually find it a bit silly that people feel the need to change for interviews/meetings, why aren’t flats good enough for that?

I wear flats everyday to work!!! I work in the court so I need my feet to be comfy 🙂

I think so. If they aren’t I’d say whoever is forming that opinion is basing it solely on the lack of sex appeal in comparison to heals, which I have neither the tolerance nor the desire to wear on a daily basis.

I wear Tiek flats every day to work and honestly tailored all my pants so I can wear flats with them. Most of my pants anyways are pencil pants so, I look professional all the time. Occasionally I wear wedges to work but honestly will never wear high heels anywhere not even to an interview. I’ve never understood wearing high heels as being professional. The clothes you wear, how they fit, makeup and hair are what makes you seem professional. Not some stupid shoes. Honestly, I find it a bit sexiest. So I gotta wear high heels to look professional? That’s insane.

Yes. I’ve never worn heels in my life. Flats are very professional.

I almost always wear heels to work. Sometimes it’s just .5inch others its 4inches. I have a pair of ballet flats that are ok but I find that they ache my arch (I have a very high arch).
In summer I wear sandals when it’s warm but if I had parents evenings, meetings etc then I’d be back in heels.
Ballet flats aren’t unprofessional- I do feel better in heels though.

squirrelly1982 : I wear those too! Great for being on your feet all day (teacher) and cute.

sparkles8rosegold : I find it interesting that you find heels sexist but not make up. I understand making sure your hair looks polished but I don’t think make up is at all necessary to look professional.

MrsBeck : Oh no I meant that if you wear makeup then it needs to be professional. I usually don’t wear makeup either but I do see women who do and wearing club makeup lol

sparkles8rosegold : ohhh okay, that makes sense! I totally know the type of makeup you’re talking about lol.
