@WannaBeeMrsB:  In my opinion, I say go with the chair covers, I personally dont find the chiavari chairs comfortable at all! While I could honestly sit in a banquet chair all evening if I had to!

@WannaBeeMrsB:  I voted covers since I got the impression that uncovered chairs were not really an option BUT I personally would use the FREE chairs uncovered and use that $900 toward something else. You might even be able to make your own covers or find some used for WAY less than $900.

No one other than you will notice the chairs if you even notice them. I don’t remember what the chairs looked like at our own wedding, let alone anyone else’s.  Remember, it’s going to be dark in there, and most people don’t sit that long.

That said, think of your grandmom; chivari chairs are SO uncomfortable, she’ll be happier in a banquet chair.

Is the first pic -free chair- the actual venue? If so, from the looks of it the banqyet chairs fit right in. I say thisbbecause of the carpet and natural wood molding on otherwise very plain beige walls.

I don’t like the look of covered chairs in your second picture. To me it looks like people are trying to be fancy and play dress up, but it’s all bad, bad pretend.

Chivari chairs are lovely when everything else in the room and the table is on point. Based on your inspiration chivari pic table- linens and centerpiece- I think the free chairs will be fine.

If you did not shell out $1800 on chairs where else would that money go?

I already commented and voted chiavari chairs but I thought I’d come back and say that if you do go with chair covers I wouldn’t go with ones that are $3 a piece. You can get them for much cheaper on efavormart

@WannaBeeMrsB:  I literally cannot remember what the chairs looked like at any wedding I’ve ever been to- but I do know I sat in a chiavari chair during an military ball in college with the most long-winded keynote speaker I’ve ever heard, and it was a misery. A misery.

I don’t think they look objectively better or worse than banquet chairs, but they definitely FEEL a million times worse. It’s a bit horrifying to think of paying hundreds or thousands to torment your guests!

Did the chiavaris come with the cushions in that price?  Most places rent the cushions separately for about $0.50 a piece.

I have been to several events and weddings with chiavari chairs and have NEVER found them uncomfortable. I find it strange that people are commenting that sitting in them was misery – it never occurred to me that they were any less comfortable than a banquet chair and I have sat in them for hours at a time. Perhaps there are different manufacturers and they are made differently – more padding etc. The quality may vary by supplier and may also explain price differences.

And how can anyone say they don’t look objectively better or worse than banquet chairs??? Seriously? Banquet chairs are ugly!

@WannaBeeMrsB:  those banquet chairs are ugly (sorry!!!). We have a new venue, so it actually comes with the chiavari chairs which I was happy about. I don’t find them uncomfortable either. I’ve been to weddings with them and they are fine for me. Plus they are pretty.

I think Chiavari chairs make a reception space instantly look so elegant and classy, so that’s my vote! I don’t think they are uncomfortable at all! And my friend (I was her MOH) spent $10/chair on chiavari chairs, so I think $6/chair is really good! One venue I looked at charged (I kid you not) $18 per chair!! We went with a venue who included chiavari chairs in their basic package.

Okay, I feel like kind of an asshole saying this, but for the sake of honesty, I’m going to say it anyways. Hopefully it is helpful in some way to you instead of just rude…

I feel like with the carpet in that room, it’s kind of pointless to do anything with the chairs. If the floors were gorgeous wood or something I would probably say go ahead with the chiavari chairs. But I feel like the carpet is already pretty dated looking and there isn’t a whole lot of point (especially with the huge price tag for the chairs!) in trying to cover the chairs that are already free. They match the carpet and work fine in the space IMO.

I had to have them for our wedding, they’re so elegant looking. My Husband was not too thrilled about the price but thankfully we only had 70 people at our wedding so it wasn’t too expensive

@WannaBeeMrsB:  I voted for the chiavari chairs.  If you can find the money in the budget then I would get them.  I would get the least expensive table linens possible (so long as they are floor length) rather than skimp on the chair.  You know what your preference is, so as long as you can budget it, this is any easy answer!

No way to the chairs!!! My wedding package included them but I took them out on my own, the chairs at the venue are WAY nicer looking in my opinion and look a lot more “expensive” than the chiavari ones, plus I think chi chairs are soooo uncomfortable :-/…
