We’re considering buying our wedding rings online (risky, I know!). We haven’t been to the jeweler yet, but J is convinced (and I tend to agree) that we’ll get a better price online. We do hope to see a jeweler this weekend though. 🙂
and the band I’m looking at (both are platinum):
It’s only $400, found here: http://www.danforthdiamond.com/women%27s-wedding-rings/637/Platinum-2-mm-Contoured-Wedding-Band/details.htm
Their return policy says I can return it within 30 days, no questions asked. Seems foolproof, right? We’re five and a half weeks out from the wedding, so we need to get this figured out soon ish…

With mine the jeweler used my e-ring to fit the band in the curve. Personally I wouldn’t order it online for fear that it wont fit in the curve… cause In My Humble Opinion if it isn’t going to fit there really is no point to having the curve at all. I got mine at a jewelers for around that price.. I can’t remember exactly but it was that or cheaper.
My advice would be to definatly price it out at the jewelers and see what their prices are before buying on-line. Good Luck! 🙂

yes, contour band curves can vary greatly. although, if you can return within 30 days, you can probably just buy it and send it back if it does not fit. i will say that it has been a challenge finding plain contour bands — most contour bands have diamonds in them.

@zaylee: YES! I’m not opposed to diamonds in the band, but for the price difference? Not worth it!
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I understand that it’s more expensive because of the diamonds, but since I’m ambivalent on the subject of whether or not my band has any bling, it seems REALLY silly to pay a thousand dollars more (3-4x the price of a plain band!) for something that doesn’t matter to me.
I can’t believe how hard it is to find a PLAIN band! Hopefully our jeweler can help us out… maybe I’ll explain that I saw similar bands online for $400 and he can match the price. Here’s hoping.
Since we’ll probably buy FI’s wedding band there (and spend a bit more), that’s another bargaining chip, right?

contour bands are all different. it is not a good idea to order online.

I would start by looking physically in a jewlers to get a feel for what you want. You don’t have to buy you can just look! Then after you find what you want you can order online when you feel more secure.
ps. I LOVE your ring!
