Wasn’t sure where to put this so accessories it is!
There is a really nice set of champagne glasses that I love. The person told me it would take longer than the 3 weeks til my wedding to get them. Last night we went to things remembered and they are beyond overpriced on their engraving. For our first names and wedding date it was $48!!!! For just our last initial it was $16. Are you kidding me? Really? So my question is, should I buy the ones I really like ($40) and go without engraving or just take a plain pair and have them engraved. I hate to spend money on something that is so fragile and can break at any time then it’s wasted money. Opinions, thoughts? Thanks!

I think they are totally unneccesary. Nobody will notice, and they will likely do nothing but collect dust at your home afterward. We skipped this entirely!

In my opinion, I wouldn’t spend money on fancy champagne glasses… unless you really really think it’s important. I assure you, nobody else cares. That being said, my mom bought us some extremely expensive champagne glasses as a present. I was like, oh ok thanks 🙂 $40 does not seem that much to me though, especially as a memoir from the wedding!

We got the nice ones we loved at Macys but skipped the engraving. We use them any time we have champagne at home now! New Years, anniversary, the list goes on! I’d buy the ones you love and skip the engraving, because YOU know they’re your wedding glasses, and that makes it special without having to be engraved to remind you!

In my opinion, no. Ours are $12ea from Crate and Barrel, but they look like they could be $75+. I know for a fact that we’ll never use ours again, so I’m not spending lots of $$ on them.

I would just get something nice and simple but wouldnt worry about paying extra for engraving

Thanks ladies, I was thinking the same thing. I just wasn’t sure if it would be odd to have them at the reception without some sort of engraving.

I don’t think anyone’s really going to notice the lack of engraving… especially if they’re drinking champagne, too!

I didn’t think anyone else would really notice. I just ordered them and they’ll be here by wednesday! =)

I totally bought four glasses I liked from http://www.smartyhadaparty.com for like $11.99 (for all FOUR)
I feel like it was something I wanted to buy for us, but wasn’t wanting to spend much on…

Buy a nice crystal pair that you’ll use at least twice a year for the next 50 years instead of a cheaper pair that you’ll engrave and never use again.

My future SIL sent us flutes from Tiffany’s and we’ll use them for an engagement present. I wouldn’t have bought them otherwise.
