Yes, black tuxedo, didn’t exactly match the bridal party.

both of our fathers passed away prior to our wedding, but DH’s grandfather wore a tux.  we gave him the option and he decided to rent one as well.

Our dad’s wore suits. They went with the guys when they ordered their suits (bought instead of renting), and it was a fun idea that all of them just get new suits. We had a small bridal party, so it was just Darling Husband, his brother (BM), Brother-In-Law (GM), and our dad’s that had to be bought for.

We bought ties for them all, too. DH’s was a little different, the 2 Groomsmen wore the same, and our dad’s wore the same.

yes, they are renting.  they are the same tuxes as the Groomsmen and ushers, but the tie and vest are different.

My dad is extremely cheap, so he refuses to spend the money to rent a tux. So he’s wearing a suit. His dad is most likely wearing a suit as well.

My dad is wearing a tux (rental), and my Father-In-Law will be wearing a suit he bought.

Both dads wore the same tux as the groomsmen, with a silver tie and vest.  (Groom had an off white tie/vest, groomsmen burgundy).  I think originally my parents thought dad might just wear a suit, but then my Father-In-Law was set on wearing a tux.  They didn’t want him to be more dressed up than the FOB, so they decided to have dad wear a tux too.  I think in the end they were glad he did, he looked very nice.  Especially since my brother was a groomsmen, so that in the family pictures they were equally dressed up.

I don’t think there’s any rule so really depends on what you all want to do.

My Groom, Best Man and Usher will be wearing tails suits at our wedding. I offered to rent them for both our fathers too but made it clear they were free to wear their own suits if they wanted. They chose to go with the tails too and will be matching the rest but the may have different buttonholes.

summerbride0815:  We didnt do tuxedos at all – but my Father-In-Law rented the same suit as the groomsmen but my dad wore his own suit. My Father-In-Law is more of a blue collar worker, whereas my dad is a business professional so he has a ton of suits and didnt want to rent one.

Both my father and father-in-law had custom suits made for the occasion, as did my Darling Husband. They asked us what we would prefer and we told them to wear what is most comfortable. A beautifully tailored suit can sometimes be nicer than a tux, as well as more appropriate to wear at other occasions.

My dad wore a suit. The same as the groom and groomsmen’s suits. He is very close to my husband, so he was very proud and excited to dress up (and match him!)

There’s no rules here and it’s completely up to them.

I wanted my dad to wear one and he had no objection.  In fact, he’s looking forward to wearing one again as the last time he wore a tux was at his own wedding….41 years ago!  I just let him picked out a tux that he liked and I just provided my input on changing the vest and helped veto his colour choices which is deep bright blue which is going to bring out his blue eyes.

I asked my Future Father-In-Law if he wouldn’t mind wearing a tux to help complete the picture.  He said, “sure!”.  The bonus is that his tux was free as it was part of the groomsmen package where the 6th tux was free and his tux was the 6th one, lol.  I didn’t find out until after that he had already bought a new suit for the wedding.  Yikes!  I spoke him with him that I didn’t know he had already bought one and felt bad for asking him.  He said that he didn’t care and that if it’ll help him make the bride and groom look good, he’ll do it!  He’s looking forward to wearing a tux!

My dad wore a tux ( we didnt have groomsmen) but I let him do what what wanted as far as a color goes. He is 78 so I thought he should be able to do what he wanted. In the end he looked nice and didn’t look out of place. Pic attached.
