TheGridMonster:  Your first example is what I’d consider perfect – not too stark, not too long, not too square. It’s the perfect combination of understated nude and French.

French manicure has been out of fashion for years in the big city.  I hope long acrylic nails and shoulder pads never come back in style.

Yep, they’re out…I love to french a lot of things but the nails aren’t it.

I think it depends how they are done. I honestly 100% feel that acrylics are way out when it comes to french tips, but a clean gel polish is always classy. I also prefer when the nails are rounded and at a shorter length vs long squared off french tips. I like the example the gridmonster posted, much more natural and clean.

I’ve never liked them on fake nails because that was exactly the look that all the trashy kind of girls my high school got when they wanted to be “fancy” (like for prom). It just turned me off.

I do like the more natural look though! But personally I never get a French manicure because 1) it’s way too intensive to do at home and look good for me personally and 2) all the salons around me charge extra for it! Might as well get a pretty solid color instead.

BookTea:  We’re all thinking the same thing… French manicure, acrylics, AND super long nails… CRINGE.

There’s two kinds of french…Classy French, and Porn Star French.

If your nails are doing that squared-off, kids’ sand-shovel thing and you’re not starring in adult movies…WHY.
