(Closed) Are gifts supposed to be returned in a case like this?

as a gift giver I would just not give them a gift next time aronud.

I have always believed that the etiquette states that if you split within a year of the wedding date then you must return the gift. However I have nothing to back me up, just what I “know”. 

So yes, the etiquette says that they should be returned.

Two months?! That’s so sad.

If we were splitting up (GOD FORBID!) after a short time (ojala que nunca!), we’d give the gifts back. However, if someone I cared enough about to give a gift to was going through a break up soon after the wedding, I’d never ask for a gift back. I wouldn’t even accept it if they offered. I feel like a gift is a gift and taking it back is tacky. I wouldn’t bring this up unless they do.

I think if they get divorced after a shorter time than Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, then they should consider giving back some gifts. But honestly, they’re going through a lot and I wouldn’t expect it or anything. I think I would feel bad if I got divorced that quickly and give presents back, but it’s up to each person.
