I was wondering it it was appropriate to have bridesmaids in long taffeta dark blue dresses for a May NYC wedding.
or should I do something more like a sapphire blue?? i’m also nervous that i’m taking too long to make a decision 🙁

Yes, I think that dress is beautiful and appropriate anytime. Maybe brighten it up with some vibrant flowers.

Yep, it’d look great with bright, springy flowers. A dark navy dress would work anytime, IMO.. it looks formal and elegant and matches tons of things!

I say yes (and I did have my bridesmaids wear navy satin dresses this past May). 🙂
Navy is considered a neutral color, so it’s fine any time of year.

I sure hope so. I’m using long navy dresses for my April 21, 2012 wedding.

Thanks everyone! this was my thought too- I LOVE NAVY! – but my Maid/Matron of Honor thought it was dark for May. All my other bridesmaids and fiance love the color.
I’m going to go with it!

Yep, it’ll look smashing. And the bouquets or sashes/belts or whatever you choose will really *pop* against the dark dresses.

@caflores11: Yay! 🙂 It’s a beautiful dress!

Traditionlly, the length of the bridesmaids’ dresses is determined by the time of the wedding (long dresses after six, street-length dresses before), but I think the dresses you selected are gorgeous. I love navy, and I think it is totally appropriate for May. My mother wore a long, sapphire blue/navy gown to my May 22 wedding.
