(Closed) Are moissanites cut differently than diamonds?

Moissys are cut differently than diamonds.  It needs to be cut in a way to maximize its own optical properties… a moissy cut like a diamond would definitely not do it full justice.  Not sure if moissy cuts have changed in the last few years though.

@pinkshoes: Moissys are cut different. Also the double refractive properties of the stone may mean that the sales lady didn’t know that the “darkness” was suposed to be that way (she thought it was a diamond, right?). Maybe she was refering to the lack of crisp facetings which is a result of the double refraction?
