Hey new bee here 🙂 I went wedding dress shopping for the first time last weekend. I’ve always loved fit and flare/ mernaid style dresses, but am I to big for them? I’m short (5’1) with huge hips! Thanks kids 😉 I love way the dress looks but all i see are hips. I amgoing back next weekend to try some a line style gowns to hide the body but I never wanted a traditional dress so im torn! As you can see from picture the dress is big on the chest area!!!

laurbar11: your dress is beautiful. Your hips do not look huge, the dress looks far too big for you!!.. once you get the real size and its correctly fitted, it will look stunning..

Your dress is amazing. I love it. I do not see hips at all. I personally think mermaids look better on girls with any shape at all. I’m a street size 12/14 and I’m wearing a mermaid/trumpet. 🙂 Go with whatever makes YOU happy.

Looks great! I think mermaid dresses are more flattering with some curves!

No way! I came on here prepared to be brutally honest but I think you have a nice shape! I agree with Sdavis that a lot of times women who have curves look best in those sexy mermaid dresses. I think apple shapes should avoid them, but your not an apple at all!

laurbar11: I don’t think so at all! I think the dress will actually look even BETTER once it’s been altered to fit you, especially around those hips!

laurbar11: I’m apple shape and would kill for your hips!

You look amazing! I also hate my hips and even had a few people tell me the dress I chose was unflattering to my hips (everyone said I should do an A-line to hide them), but my dress made me FEEL so confident and sexy and I felt like I was hiding in the A-line. I say rock the fit and flare – that dress totally highlights your hourglass shape.

No, I think it looks lovely on you and your hips don’t look too big. Your proportions look nice. However I’m noticing this photo was taken from a three-quarter view which does tend to minimize figure flaws. Do you have any photos taken from head on?

I think your hips look fine and the dress hugs your curves perfectly.

Cyprusdelight: I agree with cyprusdelight. It’s hard to tell with the dress being big. I love having curves. Rock them!

I think you look proportional- it looks good on you!
