Yes. I am 5’9″ and 130-135lbs (really depends on the day). As you can guess with my height and weight I am skinny…but I am so out of shape…I recently started getting back into a regular exercise regeme and hate it…but still keep at it (well try). It will get easier for me .I was much more in shape when we first got married and before.(I was 125lbs but strong, tones and insahape and no I didn’t look too skinny).I just got so caught up in school I put it on back burner.
My goal is to not just tone up and build up muscles (in the stomach and bumm specifically…esp the bumm) but I need to be able to run without passing out (over exageration) but my goal is by summer I can run 5k again without walking… and my butt is lifted and abs are back. I wont worry about my weight.

I used to be pretty skinny up until my mid-20s, then got “skinny fat”, then in my 30s, I just got fat. Lost 30 pounds by running, strength training, and keeping those calories in check with a balanced diet. A proper diet and strength/weight training are the main ingredients to losing fat.

Cardio really helped me lose the most fat around my tummy. I burned a poop ton of calories with the eliptical especially depending how long I do it. I use the “fat burn” setting. 20 min = 200 calories.
it suprised me how well it worked lol.

I was skinny fat and am getting less so. I stopped doing cardio-only workouts since I get a ton of cardio going about my daily routine (I live in NYC and walk everywhere, unless I’m running late or the weather is bad), and started focusing on more toning workouts like barre, pilates, and yoga.

ugh i know how you feel. I was on the same boat for most of my life. My tummy area would not go away no matter what I did. being 5’6″, 115-120 pounds no one took me seriously and didn’t believe when I said had excess fat. I finally bit the bullet and got liposuction and they took out 2 liters of fat that no one else saw but I could feel. I know it’s not a realistic solution for a lot of people, but it has changed my self image and boosted my confidence in ways I never thought possible! Now I work out and eat healthy and feel the best I ever have, 6 months from my wedding.

It’s so good to know I’m not alone!! I would love to hear more about your liposuction story. Would you mind PMing me with some details of how it went, the method used, recovery time, costs etc.? Because it’s seriously something I want to do, I just don’t know if I should wait until after I have kids or not… 2 litres of fat is A LOT! It’s like lugging around an extra 2-litre bottle of milk! And they’d probably get even more than that
off me, LOL.
Great to hear your stories, Bees!!

THANK YOU. I’ve been screaming this to myself from the start of the thread!

Pole dancing was an amazing thing I fell in love with four years ago. I loved going to pole class and it inspired to be strong, coordinated and flexible. It didn’t feel like exercise because learning specific moves made you focus on technique and forget the exercise aspect. It’s a lot of body-weight work you end up doing. But then, to accelerate my strength training, I hired a personal trainer and lifted weights with him three times a week for a year – best thing I ever did in my life. The results are inevitable with weight training, sensible eating, consistency and a good coach. You’ll lean out and tone up, I promise 🙂 And, you’ll be very strong! Mentally too, lol!

I’m totally skinny fat! I used to be 5’6″, 115 lbs.. Now I hover around 135 lbs and I notice the bulge in my tummy a lot, in the arms a little and now even in my chin/neck a little. I would ideally like to lose about 10 lbs and tone up my arms/tummy. I could eat better, and I honestly never work out. It’s bad. Gotta do something! I’ve been thin my whole life and I’m really riding the line now.

lol yes! I am assuming you’re talking about the less cardio part? It was so hard to learn to not just do 40 minutes on the elliptical. But it takes less time to do weight training! I do 20 minutes of intensive weights on one body part/theme per day and BAM – results. I still try to do cardio but I keep it to brisk walking and an interval elliptical. I don’t run because it hurts my joints too much especiall on the treadmill.
What do you do??

Yes ma’am! Weight lifting for me! I do one body area per day 5-6 days per week. I’m on daily cardio now for competi prep but during off season,it’s cardiNO haha

I’m 5’6 and 110lbs but look around 25 lbs heavier than I actually am! No matter how much I work out or eat, I’ve never been below 108 lbs. I used to run around 15km a week, in addition to going to the gym (cycling/aerobics/HIIT/weights) for around 10 hrs a week, for 18 months, and it made no difference whatsoever to my figure or weight apart from me losing a bit of fat from my boobs. I’m unfortunately sedentary again and there has also been no change apart from a slightly fuller chest.
Thankfully I noticed my fitness levels skyrocketed and I went from not being able to run more than 1 or 2 km, to running a sub-55 10km.
I suppose I am somewhat lucky in that I can eat what I want and not gain anything (not that my current figure is spectacular), but it’s frustrating because I would love to get rid of excess fat from my arms, tummy and thighs but whatever I do, if any fat comes off, it’s always from the boobs, and maybe my already flat bum too. I’m not really aiming for a goal weight as muscle weighs more than fat for the same volume, but if I was, I’d probably be aiming for around 95-100 lbs.
