To be honest, I have never seen this combination at any wedding in real life. However I’ve seen it just about everywhere online. What comes across as overplayed online, people in real life may have never seen before so it will be completely new to them. Choose the colors you want since it doesn’t really matter in the end what other people have chosen, especially folks you don’t even know.

I agree with Ember… we are used to seeing stuff online & it becomes “normal” to us. We have to remember that most wedding guests haven’t been exposed to what we have & what might seem overdone is original to them!

You could copy every detail of another brides wedding… who would know? lol

I’ve never seen this combination at a real wedding either.  I’m sure you will add your own touches and the wedding will be perfectly suited to you.

I used those colors because I loved them!  Most people only go to a handful of weddings a year, and I bet if you asked most people, they couldn’t name the colors at most weddings if you asked them (well unless they were recently engaged or married).  Most people don’t obsess like we do over details – so would probably not have any idea what color combos are “in” vs. “out”.  This is true of so many trends – cupcake towers which are played out in wedding magazines still seem to be a hit and a new thing to most guests.

I’ve seen it all over the magazines/internet, but the only actual wedding i’ve seen with brown and pink also has green. that’s it!

I’ve never been to any event with that color combo. The only combo I’ve seen a repeat of is pink and green…but the shades were so different it didn’t even look the same.

I think that “played out” is a dumb phrase. So what if a lot of people use the same thing? YOU haven’t used it yet, and you’ll put your own personal touches. I don’t think you should even give it a second thought.

I think since your guests probably don’t stalk wedding blogs/mags like we do, they will enjoy your color scheme. 🙂  Could you add in an accent color to change it up a bit?  I personally like the two colors together… I hope you post pictures for us!

First of all, as many have noted above, it’s a great color combo, and won’t seem “played out” to guests who don’t think about weddings 24/7!

Second of all, one of the advantages of the more popular color combos is that you’ll be able to find thinks in your colors! I went with rose & pewter, which is an old favorite of mine that’s trendy again, and I had the hardest time finding things in my colors! Pink and brown things were pretty easy to find, though… I went to three different stores looking for any dark grey ribbon at all, and every single one of them had lots of shades/textures/widths of brown… It’ll save you some legwork!

Like other posters have said, I do think that it seems more “played out” to us because we read wedding blogs and look at photos all day long.  Most of your guests might not be as up on wedding trends as we are.  Personally, I have seen this color combo a few times, so it definitely is still popular.

I don’t think it’s played out at all! I think it’s still adorable.

I haven’t been to a brown/pink combo wedding either.  I think that those wedding magazines have to keep spicing up the color combos so that brides everywhere buy more wedding stuff from their advertisers.  They’re just churning their business.  I think that if you love those colors that a fickle magazine column shouldn’t ruin it for you!  Rock out with your brown and pink girl!
