Hi all! I’m trying get to decide if buying/making program fans will be “worth it”. We’re having an outdoor ceremony on the bay at 11:00 in the morning. I’m thinking about making program fans, however we are having a short ceremony so I’m not sure how necessary programs would be? But I do think that guests would appreciate having something to fan themselves with. And then if I do get them, should I get enough for every guest? I I’m thinking we could leave them on the chairs, so it increases the chance of guests using them. What do you all think?

I am thinking about doing that too. But the ones I saw were alot less intricate. I found some on beau-coup.com. The ones you are showing here look pretty expensive. Nice, but I don’t know if they are a necessity. But if you love ’em and have room in your budget, why not?

I think it would be distracting to have so much movement in the audience. If it’s going to be really hot, you may need a tent and/or fan (Like, electric fan).
We didnt do programs. Short and sweet!

Pepper15: If you are planning to have programs of some sort regardless, then I would go with the fans. (We are doing program fans and we’re even having an indoor wedding!) I think you could find some simpler/cheaper ones that would be just as nice, but I’m sure your guests would appreciate having the option to keep themselves cool.

Pepper15: We haven’t made a final selection yet, but my mom heard that our local Staples will make them. I am a designer though, so I’ll probably be making the whole program and then basically just sending it to them to print on the fans. I wish I had more details or price info….we haven’t gone very far into the process yet…we’re just very certain we’re going to find a way to make them work.

why not a paddle fan style? https://img1.etsystatic.com/009/0/6098401/il_fullxfull.412251633_e24r.jpg it’d probably be a lot cheaper because you could buy cards and then glue them to the fan sticks.

Are you in the south? I know here in Louisiana, even if you’re in direct sunlight for 10 minutes… you’re sweating! If your guests will be dressed up, I would provide the fans. I wouldn’t get one for every guest though… I don’t think that’s needed.

We made paddle fan programs for a 30 min cermoney that took place outside. It was SOO hot that I don’t know what people would have done withouth them. If they are decent priced I would get them but IMO I wouldn’t spend too much because most people just toss them away after the wedding.

Either fan would be a good idea, I think! I don’t know that the kind you posted would be that much more expensive than the paddle fan style….you could DIY that easily with a hole punch and some brads, which may be cheaper than the larger fan and sticks. It could depend on what’s available to you.
