Just wondering, is there some dependenсe between the size of the diamond and how the sparks appear?
I have a 0.4 stone and sparks are very thin – like tiny icy needles – is it something because of the quality, or because of the ct weight and dimensions? And if I want to see some bold and thick flashes, should I go up in cut or in size?

It is most likely due to the cut of the stone. I don’t think size would play a part in the type of sparkle. Sparkle comes from the cut quality of the diamond or any stone for that matter.

Yes I agree with @mrssloan2013.. I used to have a very tiny diamond but it still sparkling like crazy.. 🙂 The cutting really determine the sparks.. Color and clarity is also a factor but not the size..

Well, the facets are bigger on a bigger stone, so I would actually guess you would have to go up in size to see those big reflections. Why don’t you go to a jewelry store and see?

I had a .56 carat stone that gave off “large” reflection of sparkles, you could really see the blues, reds, greens it was really amazing. It was near colorless, with good cut/polish and slightly included. I upgraded to a colorless .96 diamond with better cut/polish and also was sligtly included. My new diamond has a different sparkle to it, it almost glitters with the small specs of sparkle. It doesnt have the large specs and I think I liked the large better. My upgraded diamond is the higher quality diamond but I prefer the “large” sparkle so I actually am considering getting my old diamond back! lol! I have 30 days to return so I dunno! What are the specs on your diamond?
