We are both getting engagement rings too.  We picked out our own and have discussed ourselves into marriage so no proposing but we both like the idea of the equality of two rings.  His will actually be flashier than mine but he in general is flashier than me.  I love your ring so much! Your set is very pretty as well.  I think the second set you posted for him is really nice.  You forgot to post a poll though so I’m voting here!

Your ring is so unique and beautiful! Since he wants it to somewhat match yours but not be too blingy, I’d go with the first option but maybe with a slightly smaller diamond.

Does it have to have a diamond?  Why not a silver colored ring with engraving?

We both have engagement rings! They’re not thematically matching like yours but I really like the idea of matching. the band with the single stone centered is really pretty (the first opt for him). Here is my FI’s ring

lustforlife:  Ours are not matching in the sense of aesthetically.  We both are really big anime/comic/cartoon people and thats what we bonded over when we first met.  We both are very whimsical and extroverted as well so the rings we chose really reflect that.  Anyway this is what he is going to have made.

Omg!! I’m not the only one πŸ˜‚ we will have a formal engagement eventually but I’m in the same boat as you, we’ve both been in that place that we’re going to get married so it’s like we’re already engaged. He’s now looking at rings for me, and the plan is for me to get a ring for him as well. He has a black cobalt ring right now as a promise ring. I plan to get him either a silver colored metal or black colored metal with sapphires. That’s his thing. We won’t match at all but it’s perfect for us because we are both completely different people, and our rings reflect that. These are two of what I’ve been looking at for him:

Personally for yourself, I’d go with the first. It’s the least blingly as also the most masculine. You said he was more feminine which is totally cool, but unless he’s a big jewelry person I feel the first is more discrete. The others although beautiful are more delicate.

if im understanding correctly he will wear the top two rings together or the bottom one with an open band like yours? If yes then I prefer the 2nd one. I like that you guys will have wedding bands that are similar in style – especially if he wants to sort of match. Also Im not sure the first two bands really go together a I think the little diamonds will make the overall look more blingy.

Oh I might have misunderstood as well! I like the bottom ring with the diamond sideways instead of how it’s shown as the engagement ring.  Then I think a plain band.  If you go with the first engagement ring I’d go with the band with all the little diamonds on it.  I haven’t actually even asked him if he wants a wedding band too.  I guess I figured he would wear the Jake ring as his band but now I have to find out.  Believe it or not his will be more than mine! Lol

I said I built him an “engagement computer” jokingly (spent a damn lot more than he did on my ring too hahaha), though I will say that when his wedding band came in he was so excited to have it that he didn’t take it off for hours, and asked why he didn’t get an engagement ring lol. I bet in a few years it’ll definitely be a more common thing… oh and his wedding band has the Superman S on it *rolls eyes* lol. I’d be leery about a ring with a more “current” or recent pop culture reference like Jake though. I’d be worried about whether or not I’d like it in 5, 10, 20 years time (though I suppose you can always upgrade then)

CaitlinAwesome:  Judging from the amount of suits and ties in his closet upgrading is kind of a given lol.  I’ve gotten used to his love for all things flashy!

lustforlife:  I love his too! It’s really sweet and cute and serious and fun.  Mine is Zelda inspired (been playing since the first one) and together they ‘go’!
