He picked A Song For Mama from Boyz to Men. I was really pulling for the Shinedown cover of Simple Man, but it came down to his call.

Chryssie Hynde wrote “I’ll Stand By You” for her son.  that’s a pretty song

I think Fiance and his mom will be dancing to “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor or Faith Hill’s “There You’ll Be”

We did My Wish by Rascall Flats, a bit cheesy but I think it’s what most parents do wish for.

We’re doing a combined mother/son and father/daughter dance so I think we’re going to use Never Alone by Lady Antebellum. It’s a little country for my tastes, but it’s so impossible to find an appropriate song that’s the right tempo, lyrics and no swearing. Gah.

We did a combo song–You Cannot Lose My Love by Sara Groves. It’s not cheesy, but it is very sweet and heartfelt.

I felt like it worked perfectly with my relationship with my dad (and my husband’s relationship with his mom), because those relationships have been very hard at times. The song speaks from parent to child, and I think from child to parent…no matter what happens, you cannot lose my love!

No advice, but my Mother-In-Law picked that song.  It was so slow and no one listened to the words, which annoyed Mother-In-Law.  In the end it made her happy.

I used God Only Knows by the Beach Boys which could used for Mother/Son.

Faith Hill’s There You’ll Be. It is sort of cheesy but it worked 🙂 My groom isn’t much of a dancer so we cut it pretty short.

We’re probably going with Stand by Me by Ben E. King, but Mama by BJ Thomas was in the running to since the lyrics are meaningful.
