Hi guys! I wanted to book the venue and caterer first (largest expense) but I’m stuck at the caterer. Im starting to wish I went with a full service venue. @paisleymedic have you found a caterer?

@Tamimi85:  I’m using Matthew’s Catering Company. They’ve catered some of my friends weddings and their food is AMAZING and they do a beautiful job!! I love that Branford House allows outside caterers. Have you looked at any in particular?

@futuremrsgreenbean:  I have not chosen any of the three vendors you’ve listed! lol. Just venue and caterer.

@PaisleyMedic:  Thanks! I’m totally checking them out. I’ve looked at Gourmet Galley & David Allen’s Catering. Us 2014 brides have all the time in the world lol!

@Tamimi85:  Oh Gourmet Galley! I’ve never heard of David Allen, but I know Gourmet Galley used to be a caterer at Harkness when they had 6. Now they only have 3. And YES! Branford House is air conditioned. Another reason we chose that over Harkness (and other venues).

Hi! This is actually my first post although I’ve been lurking for YEARS. Fiance and I got engaged in 2009, but actually bumped our wedding back a few years due to family (passings, cultural issues, etc). We’re FINALLY getting married in May. Oh, and we’re in the Greater Hartford area, but getting married in downtown Boston.

Hi ladies. I too am a CT Bride and this is my first post. I got engaged on July 4th, 2012 in New Orleans on vacation. Our wedding date is December 14, 2013. The theme is Christmas Romance and my colors (finally decided) are Red, White and Black. We are getting married in Branford at Woodwinds. Feeling a little overwhelmed right now with all the planning. Currently looking for a photographer, florist and DJ. I plan on shopping for my gown in the next few weeks. I am plus size and need to find places that have gowns in my size that I can actually try on. So far I’ve found Alfred Angelo, David’s Bridal, Bridal Bells iin CT and Bridal and Gift in MA. If anyone knows of any other salons and has any info on reasonable photographers, florists and DJ’s, please let me know.

Thanks,

@PoohLover, congrats on your engagement, awesome trip!

I’d suggest Kasey Matson Photography. She did some pics for me and reasonably priced. I’ve seen her wedding work. I plan on having her shoot my wedding in 2014. Also checkout Wedding Embassy in Watertown/Oakville CT for dresses.

@AstoriaK:  do you know of any good venues in the Hartford area that are budget friendly but are pretty all-inclusive?

@Omgbunnies:  My friends who were more budget conscious got married at the The Riverfront Boathouse in Hartford, Marquee Events at the Old G. Fox Building (off season in the winter), The Pond House in Elizabeth Park, and Wickham Park in Manchester. I think all but Wickham were pretty inclusive in terms of catering and set up. I’m not sure what date you want but I’ve heard that if you look off season, prices are a lot better especially aroujnd holidays.

@Omgbunnies:  I’m signing the contract for the GFox Ballroom thursday! They are pretyt all inclusive and fairly reasonable, plus it’s not your cookie cutter banquet hall.  From what I hear on reviews, their plannign team is almost liek having your own wedding planner too!
