Are there more couples NOT getting a traditional wedding cake?

I’ve seen lots of both. I would never choose cake as my preferred dessert in a restaurant so I see no reason to have it at our wedding. We’ll have regular desserts instead. I think people who enjoy cake on the regular are more likely to have one.

We had cupcakes. It was less expensive and it allowed us to offer a lot of different flavors. No regrets 🙂

We don’t like cake so we’re planning on having a cheese stack cake and a pork pie cake. I like cheese, he likes pork pies! We’re not having a traditional wedding mind you so no pressure to have a traditional cake!

Agree with pp. I’m not a cake person, mainly bc there’s usually too much yucky icing or its dry. We had a small cake to cut and bundtinis from a place Fiance likes, I like it now too. But I still would have preferred cheesecake. 😄 Guest pic, quality isn’t that great.

We opted for the dessert from the caterer instead of a traditional wedding cake because when we did the dessert tasting with the caterer they were really good. The caterer is also letting us choose 2 types of dessert which gives people more variety, since most people are coupled so they can have one of each.

I typically don’t love wedding cakes – they tend to be dry, whereas the desserts we picked were ones that we would have gotten at a restaurant and been happy with.

socalgirl1689 :  I had a very small round cake and the cupcakes, but our wedding was very small.

socalgirl1689 :  We had a cake because it was included in our package. It was a really pretty and delicious cake.

Hubs wanted baklava. So we had a HUGE table of baklava as well. Nearly 500 pieces.

So. much. baklava.

socalgirl1689 :  red velvet, marble, lemon, chocolate and carrot cake. Had enough for everyone to get at least 2 bundtinis. We ended up with six chocolate and carrot cake in the end. Didn’t get one slice of cake for ourselves and they snatched up all the red velvet before I got one. 😤

I hate cake, and Fiance doesn’t care for baked goods either, so we’re likely just going to order cupcakes for the guests and have a separate dessert that we like.

I think a lot of people are doing all kinds of new things which is fun.  Our friends did a regular cake and then nothing bundt cakes and had little boxes to take some home.

We are going the traditional route but having 4 flavors.

We did a 6″ cake to cut and then cupcakes as well. Our venue also served lots of cookies and pastries.

We didn’t have a wedding but eloped and celebrated with ice cream. No Cake/No Regrets.

So, I love cake. Truly and unabashedly LOVE it. But it has to be good cake, not the dry, boring stuff with fake frosting usually served at large gatherings.

Cake was one of the few things we splurged on for our wedding. We had 5 cakes, all different flavors. And it was heavenly.
